Great news for the Panthers

This significantly increases our chances at landing Ben Johnson now, I always figured he'd have gone to the Chargers to have Herbert.

Stil think BJ will be headed to DC but this definitely helps our chances.

I get that he has had success, but I never wanted him. He seems like an odd guy to me personality wise.

Or... any good candidates left decide to pull a Ben Johnson from last year and just hold firm and look to next offseason to take a HC job

Which is a legitimate fear of mine with Johnson himself.  If/when they lose to the 49ers this weekend, unless he's utterly enamored with the thought of either having the #2 pick with Washington or coming home to Carolina, I could see him going back to try and get the Lions over the hump and to a SB.

He bet on himself this year and did absolutely nothing to hurt his HC chances, really only made himself look better, and at his age, he doesn't need to just take an HC job when it's offered because it won't be there again.

That's unfortunate. I know I read that he supposedly wanted to be in Cali but sure would have been nice to have him here.
