He's gotten HC interviews in back to back seasons in spite of bad teams around him.

Teams/front offices see his success.  Being here isn't diminishing his candidacy.  Do the bright lights of LA bring more eyes?  Sure.   But he's a known commodity.  

The reason he wasn't offered a HC position has nothing to do with being on Carolina and everything to do with the way the NFL coaching hires are trending (offensive).  Only 1 new defensive coach hired and that was Mike Macdonald who had the best defense in the NFL.  The other 2 were already with their teams.

If he wants to leave, I'm ok with it but a team is going to trade. He is an asset just like a player  is.

I seen a stat thats very hard to believe- all 32 teams have a different OC since 2022. Just insane. No team has anyone staying around to figure things out, its a constant turnover for teams. I mean how lucky are the KC or LAR are for having the 5 or so years perfecting their offense. Just seems the current times, you need to learn a new system each couple years.

Well heres to hoping Canales works out, much easier to replace your OC when you don't have to change the overall scheme.

the amount of people talking about Evero primarily in terms of compensation picks is kinda weird ngl. sure there's a rule that dictates what happens if he stays another year and then leaves for a head coach job down the line, but the football counts more. he's a good coach. he's done good things here already, and nobody will be surprised when he finally gets a head coaching spot.

I wouldn't want him to stick around if he doesn't want to, but he has lots of reasons to want to stay. it's a good place for him to be, he IS valued, he's already here, and he will have pretty much total purview over the defense here.

anywhere else he goes as a DC, even if he has a good relationship with the head coach, he'll be starting from scratch yet again. he turned down the interim HC opportunity in Denver after Hackett was fired (fair enough), and wasn't offered the interim role here for probably a variety of reasons. reasons totally unrelated to his potential success or failure as a future HC, I would assume. but turning down the interim role, leaving Denver to come to Carolina, and then leaving Carolina again after a year when he has a path to stay, this is not the kind of story that will be an asset to him in HC interviews. even if it's not fair to him, which it probably isn't.

he has a lot to gain by continuing to build the defense in Charlotte. the pieces are still all there. when asked why he took the job after not getting the HC job last cycle, he mentioned his relationship with Tepper and the pieces on defense that the Panthers had. nothing about both those things has changed.

I know the best way he can show everyone how wrong it was that he was passed over for the HC role two years in a row...

If he wants to be a head coach he needs to put in the work at one place for more than one season.  If our offense improves to league average and the defense plays at a similar level as they did in '23, he will be even more highly thought of.

If I was a GM, I would be worried that he is just chasing $$$$.  Tepper opened the check book to get him.  If he was truly worried about fit, do you think this was the job?  He was able to show that he can successfully implement a new scheme with mismatched personnel.  Now if Evero were able to build upon it, that would make him HC material.  If he had the opportunity to stay in Denver and he was able to build upon the awesome defense they were playing at season's end, he would have gotten a job.

Play out your contract, continue to leave a place better than it was when he arrived.  If he doesn't get a HC job, he will be the most sought after DC in the NFL.

I agree with this.

I like Evero, and want him to stay, but if he wants out, I believe you let him go. A 3rd round pick isn’t worth the possible backlash

Also, him being the play caller was probably a plus for us. Won't even have a change of style if our OC moves on later.

      Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.

      I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
