Hate that gum smackin' little weasel...  Pass...

Yeah definitely don't hire him because he chews gum. How dare he smack his gum. The guy is a hell of a coach like it or not. He could be a pretty good mentor/consultant im quite sure as well but fug it, lets not find out because he chews his gum too obnoxiously.

Pete the cheat is a damn good coach and could be a damn good mentor. As far as his gum chewing, that old fart can chew whatever the hell he wants if he could be of benefit to this team, our first time head coach and our players.

I guess some of these guys forgot about John Fox and his legendary gum-chewing.

Hell yes they did. Also depends on what kind of gum were talking. Is it some old school Hubba Bubba or a Big League Chew? As long as he isn't chewing any double mint im okay with it!

I recall the Huddle chewed him out for his constant clapping on the sidelines.

Carroll doesn't strike me as someone willing to move out of the West Coast at this point of his life. He'd probably be okay with answering any calls from Canales for advice, though.

Hate to tell ya I dont give a sh!t

Up to you.

Me? I care way more about what helps us win games than I do about my personal feelings toward a guy I don't know.

Not like he's been molesting massage therapists in his spare time or some such.

We don't need 10 people with lots of great ideas, like last year.

We need 1 guy with a clear plan and vision (Canales) and everyone else to buy in

#nomoreconsultants

Not talking about ten people. We're talking about one. Specifically, one who's been an NFL head coach.

Rivera's biggest regret about his early coaching years was that he didn't have anyone around him with that experience. Right now, Canales technically has Jim Caldwell, but he doesn't know Caldwell from Adam.

Carroll Is someone he knows well, and that can go a long way.

I have heard in news clippings from former players that his messaging has gotten stale

plus he is a West Coast lifer

Dude,

He was an assistant coach at NC State under Monte Kiffen in the early 80s, plus he was head coach for the Jets and the  Patriots. He is hardly a west coast lifer.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
