I understand your preference for one party over the other is shaping your language. The only way he can interview for DC positions is if the Panthers agree to ignore or breach the contracts and rules. Those are already in place. It would be more accurate to say he blocked himself by signing his contract. You want to present it as if the Panthers/Tepper are taking some sort of action to prevent Evero from interviewing. They are not. He is not allowed to interview per NFL rules and because of the contract he himself signed. The team doesn’t have to do anything to prevent him from interviewing. They are simply honoring the contract and the NFL rules.

Teams commonly allow coaches to interview for lateral moves. We apparently aren’t one of those teams. We’re paying Eviro $3 million and you’re right, he accepted the bag. I don’t want coaches that don’t want to be here. At least we’ll get a third round compensatory pick for him after next season assuming he gets hired as a HC elsewhere.

Nothing is written in stone.  E is obviously an up and coming coach but after this past year I would not be surprised if he wants to jump ship. I'd like to keep him and keep Luvu and Brown long term. Sticking with the 3-4 and adding pieces to that. Luvu should be a pass rushing edge style linebacker instead of the inside he was forced into by injuries. Brown as a DE beside a legit NT also would be interesting. So NT and a DE that fits a 3-4 would be targets.  I would not be opposed to going to a 4-3 if we lose Envero, Luvu and Burns in the off season actually.  I don't know what coach would be available. If we switch defensive schemes (again) then the draft strategy switches to adding a MLB, a pass rushing DT beside Brown and a pass rusher at DE to replace Burns.  I'd rather stay the course with E but...

This isn't Waffle House. The man signed a contract. When the contracts up he can negotiate for another one.

Also - loads of regular folks sign NDAs and noncompetes, those aren't a joke either.

Taking a hard line like that is sure to destroy your company culture.  its not how people work

I wouldn’t take a militant stance, but I think it’s okay to deny until the conversation is had and intentions are stated. I hope he stays, however, if he doesn’t want to be here, I wouldn’t hold him hostage.

In the past I would have agreed. Unfortunately, the league has incentivized the opposite. The Panthers would be giving up a draft pick to let him move laterally, if they believe he could get a HC job next cycle. If these teams aren’t starting the conversation with trading a draft pick for him, Tepper should absolutely tell them to kick rocks. We should not be bending over backwards to allow other teams to poach our coaches with no compensation.

And like I said previously, if Evero is a professional and a leader it will have no effect on his performance. It’s honestly such a weird culture that people think the idea of working somewhere you don’t want to for a year is this crazy thing. People do great jobs all the time in positions they don’t want. And if Evero wants out badly enough, there are absolutely terms in his contract for breach and he can accept whatever those consequences are and breach his contract. Just like the team is accepting the consequences of paying 3 head coaches right now for breaching the past 2 contracts.

      Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.

      This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.

      Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
