. I think we can all agree Ickey was a victim of the scheme

Agree. I also think Ickey is a victim of three different schemes/coaching staffs in three years. (counting his last year at NCSU) He's also had two seasons of garbage next to him except for the handful of games where Christiansen was healthy and was serviceable.

Of course he did. He's extending a lifeline to his good friend and also a fellow athlete. He's a good person and also exhibits striking leadership ability that absolutely blows those foolish pre-draft notions out of the water.

But make no mistake. He knows the Panthers fuged up. He wouldn't have worn that Kobe Bryant Hornets shirt otherwise. And even in taking the high road like this he is still rubbing the Tepper's noses in it. Hey good for him.

They will have each other’s back no doubt. Young was hyping up Stroud pre draft talking about his leadership skills and how competitive he is. He was also thrilled to see his friend go number 2. It is comical though that Stroud is flat out stating his GM put him in a better position and people still want to argue it. I mean it’s literally the guy in that situation talking vs us fans posting online.

As far as I've seen one maybe two people still held a somewhat favorable opinion of Scott Fitterer's roster building ability before he was finally relieved of his duties.

In the end all of the what if scenarios about what we could done differently or who we could have hired or drafted or signed and even CJ Stroud himself can't change Bryce Young's phsyical build. Bryce needs to live in the weight room this offseason if there is hope. We'll see.

His examples were players missing blocks and dropping passes. We need to upgrade those spots regardless to give Young a chance. Even if we draft the next CJ Stroud in 2025, he will appreciate the upgrades on offense.

I wouldnt expect him to say anything better but beginning of the season everyone felt Young was in a way better situation.  Even looking at records from previous season it seemed the panthers were on the upswing.

True and people thought the Bucs were tanking for Caleb before the season started. Canales and Baker proved that wrong too. Preseason projections are simply educated guesses.

Agree. And it goes to show the tables could be flipped next year and we end up looking like the better long term spot. A year ago today nobody wanted to be the QB the Texans drafted. Now everyone is like what a great spot that was to go to. A year ago Carolina was the best spot for a QB to go to, and now everyone is like we have no support system here and it's terrible.

Pre-draft I cannot think of anyone that thought Houston was the better situation for a rookie qb

Well if these are the same anyone's who we all think were wrong about Bryce, maybe they were wrong about Houston too. The biggest overlooked market in American sports, so of course everyone got that wrong.

I wish Ickey wasn't from NC. Then we'd get people being more honest about how he's been very not good. Who cares about situation. He was picked high enough to be the unstoppable anchor for a decade. Too many excuses for him.

Pre-draft and post draft the media, some players, and fans all raved and told us how great a QB Bryce was.

I’ve yet to see it. Even if CJ was on this team and we still sucked, he would’ve shown that he belonged. I haven’t seen the intangibles that people were raving about, nor the play making ability. Still waiting.

Maybe he wants to see it more than one game and not against one of the worst performing secondaries in the league. Some people have standards. Wild concept for some here apparently.

One good game against a crap defense that made Baker Mayfield look good gave me hope, but he quickly regressed back towards the mean.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
