CMC, DJ, Horn.  One of these things is not like the others.

after 3 years in, CMC was arguably the best RB in the NFL.

after 3 years in, DJ was putting up back to back seasonal production few WRs in the NFL were matching.

I mean, everyone knew they were going go be good elsewhere because that's what they were here.

the last first several first rounders that disappointed during his rookie contract and  left.... didn't go blowup elsewhere.   Butler and KB.  Heck even ones that didn't disappoint didn't go and do better.  Star.  Same for the recent 2nd rounders we didn't extend and let see the door from E. Brown to Clausen to Curtis.

Last decade, guys who didn't pan out here didn't go pan out elsewhere.  Yet somehow people are worried about that?

I'm specifically talking about the two players I mentioned and not starting a trend for the future. With those two players, the rebuild here wouldn't be so stark and we aren't better off than we were before. It is ridiculous to trade away good players you draft and send them to these historically good organizations for next to nothing. It happens all the times in pro sports and different pro leagues. When Horn plays, he is a shut down corner and strong tackler from the CB position. We have plenty of cap room. Nobody is talking about the old bums that you brought up.

have to make the decision by May 2nd

Horns option will cost 11.29 mil

keep in mind.  We have roughly 29 mil in Space (probably will open 10 more with restructures etc)

and have Burns+Luuvu as FA.

Excuse me but wtf does 2025 cap hit have to do with 2024 cap hit?

I can't just get excited about Horn because he's been a non-factor. He's been more like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow than a unicorn, but they're both kinda delusional. Until I see him play the preponderance of a season, I'm not going to really care one way or another whether we extend him or not. I've moved on mentally. Maybe he'll surprise me by the end of next season.

And when he has played, has never even had Bradberry type moments shutting down a Matt Ryan to Julio connection to even claim he is being overlooked by people.

Because teams respect his coverage and avoid him. A legit shutdown corner when he's out there.

but again, to date, what the biggest test Jaycee Horn has seen and successfully shutdown?

the only actual good QB/WR duo he has been on the field for......he wasn't tested as the game was a blowout from the jump.

    • If the losses were him not stepping up in key situations then it'd be a disappointment.
    • I'm well versed in the minutiea of the Canes radio broadcast system... lol I've been back in WNC for about 15 years now. And, until very recently, we would only get Predators games on the RSNs out here. So, radio was the only option for me to keep up with the team. These were the dark years, too. Maybe, once a year, you'd get to see us get smashed on national TV by some original 6 powerhouse. If you were really lucky, Jeff Skinner would bless you with one of his absolutely stunning pirouette passes to nowhere, before Wardo toppled over off his head, giving up a goal on his 70th shot faced that night for an inspiring 1-0 loss. But, that story sounds a whole lot cooler when Chuck Kaiton is telling it to you in real-time with the raspy drawl of a calving heifer! Before TuneIn or the Canes apps even existed, I used to have to find the one spot out in the back yard, where the hills and trees parted just right, that I could pickup 730(?)AM The Buzz all the way out in Catawba county. I'd sit in the shadow of the mighty Appalachians, staring out at the stars and getting high with stray cats, while being serenaded by the worst hockey you've never seen played in your life. That all, finally, started to change around the time TD bought the team. Part of that is due to the new NHL TV contracts and the constant reorganization of the RSNs themselves. Part, was me breaking up with that feral cat and moving to LKN to escape all the painful memories. The march of progress, and all that... I will say though, as much as I've criticized Dundon and as much as I loathe the existence of billionaires on principle, he has done an exceptional job of improving the fan experience, on the whole. Working with the league to expand the coverage map and bringing in outdoor games and all-star weeks has been huge. But, improving the quality on the ice (and of the ice) for all levels of hockey across the state has been even bigger! I forgot where I was going with all this, but... I'll still never forgive him for retiring Chuck K, though! HEY, HEY, WHADDYA SAY!!!!
