We signed Clowney....

Someone want to tell NBC?

Panthers signed EDGE Jadeveon Clowney, formerly of the Ravens, to a two-year, $20 million contract.
Ian Rapoport was first with the scoop and Adam Schefter later added the contract details. Clowney most recently played in Baltimore, racking up 9.5 sacks and nine TFLs in his only season as a Raven. Now C'mon nbc...catca mercenary, Clowney has played for four different teams in five years since finishing out his rookie contract with the Texans. Even at 31 years old, Clowney is still a top-end pass-rusher who excels as the foil to another elite EDGE. He will join Brian Burns in Carolina to create a formidable pass-rush for a Panthers defense looking to retool after a disappointing 2023 campaign.

Lol c'mon NBC...catch up

That's really shitty journalism. The trade happened, 2-3 weeks ago? and NBC still thinks Burns is here.  NBC is bad on politics and apparently, they suck at sports too.

It's hard to remain optimistic based on the last 5 years.  Too many coaches and too many QBs.

We let Burns go to NYG and freed up 24 million.  With that 24 Million we addressed three positions on the defense.  Jewell, Robinson and Clowney for basically the same price.   So we gave up Burns, swapped 5ths and got pick 39 and 166 and Jewell, Robinson and Clowney.  That IMO makes the Burns deal pretty damn good.

You gotta believe Evero mind is spinning a mile a minute with the new talent we have brought to this team.  I think he will get the most out of these players and our defense is going to be really good.  I hope he has a great assist who will take over his reign when he gets promoted to HC.

Gotta say i like this...still not getting overly excited tho. With all things considered the defense wasnt much of problem last year. THe improvement will come from the offense and we just gonna have to wait on that.

Not bad value if he can get 6-8 sacks each season and be effective rushing.

Should be a good, if not great, upgrade against the run as well. That's nice.

    • I'm talking about on any team. I keep hearing that but have yet to see an example. The last high flying offense I've seen was the Rams "Greatest Show on Turf". Since then it's been just average for passing offenses across the league.

    • we might have to wait a minute. i really don't think that we have seen enough in a competently managed offense to know what BY is capable of. i want to see what they can dial up with an upgraded OL, WR room, pass catching TE, and a coaching staff that is too preoccupied with hunger game crap to figure out what to do on offense.  "highlights" from last year don't inspire me, but i'm hoping that within the first few games we'll see something working better. exactly what, i don't know. fortunately it's not my job to figure that poo out. my job is to sit back, watch...and then celebrate or bitch depending on what happens.  i am excited to see what canales puts together, though.
