CBS does not think Bryce makes the leap

Recommended Posts

2023 offensive staff was full actual of NFL guys.   So who wasn't very nice?  Probably all of them.  Asst HC Duce, QB Coach McCown, OC Brown, WR Jefferson,  OL Campen, HC Frank, etc.  All former players.  NFL guys.

New staff is lighter on actual NFL guys.  HC didn't play.  OC didn't play.  QB coach didn't play.  Asst HC/RB didn't play.  OL didn't play.

So I could see this O staff having a very different approach and not being as hard on dudes.

Not saying one way yields better results than the other.  But I could totally see guys that have done it being tougher verbally.

For instance:

We spent a ton of money on 2 of the best Guards available, we cut our starting Center at great expense, we traded for a WR, we spent 3 of our top 4 draft picks on offensive weapons, spent time so far at OTA's working on Bryce's footwork, and our coaches and owner have all expressed 100% support for our QB while stating a gameplan to play to his STRENGTHS

We DIDN'T upgrade our backup QB, draft a mid to late round QB, trade for or sign R or Z Wilson, Tannehill, Fields, Jones, Darnold, or Garoppolo

These are all FACTS - not media statements or opinions - and these facts point to our coaching staff, who are more qualified than any Media outlet, believe Bryce is capable of moving forward.  If you want to know what to believe, that is the most reliable information available.  Not these Media takes.

Even so that is not a long term thing unless Young makes it so. It only tells you so much.

It could just as simply be that they were hired under conditions that he be given every opportunity to keep and grow into the job. That will be revisited after the season... or something along those lines.

We just don’t know.

I know some of you think Young is a star, so you would, but I wonder how many qualified guys would sign on being married to winning with him. There has to be an out. It makes sense that the new guy will do his best with what’s here (first) rather than just can it given the situation.

edit: as far as NFL coaching  and played and having not played, those vets who are coaching are known for being vet friendly.

Canales has said some things that hint he is a coddler, but I feel like he can be pretty cold blooded. No proof just a feeling. Or maybe Morgan will need to be bad cop.

Respect....in my opinion the absolute, without a doubt, top of the list, most important thing in the world when it comes to the success of any sort of team.  No matter whether it is sports, a career, your family, friends, any sort of team on any level.  It is more important than details, plans, structure, authority, all of it....RESPECT.  But Respect has to be earned and can only be given to a small degree.  It is very easily lost and difficult to achieve.  Canales strikes me as the the kind of guy who understands that deeply and is working to earn that individually with each player.  I have seen hundreds of leaders go into new roles in different ways, but my limited view of how he is doing it is the most effective way for long term success in most environments.  Alot of people see this as coddling (not saying you are wrong at all) but there is a balance between hard stances and giving someone rope, and it is different for every individual what they need.  He might be a coddler too much - but so far he looks more like a Respectful Leader - rare these days and seems to be getting more scarce.  I hope I am right.

Do you think Bryce owns a panic room? How many safe spaces do you think he has? Kid was great in college but is simply too small for the NFL. Note I said small, not short. I agree with CBS. We'll be doing this all over again next Draft.

Forgot the other tweet with the qb rankings

Panthers missed on Stroud but missing on Levis also hurts even more. They could have stayed put drafted Levis without trading away everything.  Stroud appears to be probowler every year but Levis showed major glimpses that he would be top ten fairly soon.

That was my preference, I hate using future years to get something now. No big trade ups. Couple spots, keep your future bullets, okay.

It wasn’t about Levis it was more about the leveraging the future, and we could have traded back from 9 and got him. Still; have DJ. Etc etc.

And when we did trade up and taking a QB was the reality, okay now I need to look at these guys. I came out of it anybody but Young. Just didn’t think he translated. At least the other three have the physical tools that you want if you are going all in.

Talking about his processor, you know some guy people said had the highest iQ ever worked odd jobs and as a bouncer, stuff like that. (Bryce and his processor won’t need to do that, but this NFL top 10 QB thing isn’t his calling) The whole package is what you need to find.

My order for the draft was this:

1. Stroud

2. Levis

3. Richardson

4. DTR

5. Bryce

The top three are three rounds better than DTR or Bryce. Just because someone else would’ve taken Bryce if we hadn’t doesn’t make them right either.

I’ve also seen people comparing Bryce and Caleb Williams but Williams has something Bryce doesn’t, and that is speed, belief, swagger, and arm strength. I think Williams, Daniels, Maye, and Nix all have the chance to be better than everyone from 2023, including Stroud. Maybe not this year, but in their career.

Now 2025 is a QB Desert unless you want someone like Cam Ward or Carson Beck, neither of which are ideal.

I know I’d draft Joey Aguilar later in the draft. Dude has an NFL arm and RG3 confirmed as much after watching him throw in the monsoon that was the Cure Bowl.

Milroe will be that guy IMO--especially with Penix's old coach. I just hope the Bryce experience isn't enough to sour everyone on Alabama QBs.

I mean, imagine if one reason Chicago didn't draft Stroud because they already had an Ohio State QB that they hated...

Their school really doesn't matter, that is all history by the draft. Can they play physically in the NFL and do they have a mind & personality that can be coached to a professional level? The school thing is so overblown and all of the stuff at that level is just lower level practice as far as the NFL is concerned.

I am curious to see who the bigger bust will be between Richardson and Young. Could be a very close race.

I mean you could try to turn AR into a tight end/Taysom Hill if qb1 doesn't work out. Can't put Bryce anywhere else on the field
