I am not sure Bill will be better than a lot of college coaches.  But I do think he will bring a lot of attention and probably get some very good players recruiting wise and in the portal.

Probably so in the big picture.  The 2025 class has largely already been recruited though.  The portal is what it is.   Bill going to need time to find the kids that will be what he wants and that will put up with his world/ways.

Bill also sold this as a development team for the next level idea….not a rent/pay and try to buy wins now effort.   Bill in reality might be a lot more Dabo like than some think.  As in stubborn to whatever his way/idea is going to be.  Who knows.

i just think the auto contender next year stuff is silly.  I’m largely just needling WhoaCam and addressing the timetable Whoa put out there.

What are yalls thoughts on Tenn/OSU? I'm leaning towards Tenn on the spread.

Betting the spread I like Tenn and Clemson

I probably would bet Tenn just straight up to win right now.  I think the end of Day happened vs Michigan.

When I say contender, I mean for the ACC championship. Yes given the schedule that seems realistic imo. It's not like we are at the bottom of the barrel.

Omarion Hampton is what kept y'all from being bottom of the barrel this year.  And yall finished 12th in the ACC.  He just left.   Think as of right now your 2025 class is ranked dead last in the ACC.

Seems like pointlessly unrealistic expectations for Belichick you are setting for year 1.   Bill has to stack some talent.  Just saying the ACC is weak and we got Bill leaves a lot out of the equation for 2025.

Arizona State was predicted to finish last in the Big 12. They are in the playoffs lol

Names on paper don't mean anything. Our respect will come from hard work and pro level preparation. We will improve on coaching alone. Keep doubting us I love it.

It was year 2 for the staff in ASU this year.   They went into this year with an upper half of the conference recruiting class.   They added a new QB and new #1 WR in the portal.

yeah, names on paper don't mean anything.  Bodies and talent does.   Bill (the name), needs time to add talent.

I think the target would be looking at year 2 or 3.

I mean in theory, I guess if the next portal window in April was just nuts I could change my tune.  But I'd wager despite your hype, Bill is going to more stubbornly go about his business than your hype train suggests and try to build a culture in UNC (and that takes time and recruiting).

There are games on UNC's schedule that you've earmarked as Ws that they will lose. Not sure which ones, but it will happen. Programs can't be turned around that quickly, especially with an old coach who's going to have to make the transition from NFL to college. He might end up being a good coach at the college level, but expecting a 180 turnaround and ACC championship is wildly unrealistic, even for you.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
