He doesn't pass the eye test for me, also had Jatavion, Worthy and Mitchell last year in the Big 12 and only threw 22 TDs? Im not saying he's not a second or maybe even a first round pick but first overall?

Also my point still stands about this team being talent depleted. Now if we could draft Ewers in a trade down or in the second then I'd be more willing to consider it

How doesn’t he pass the eye test? And you’re saying because he had a good supporting cast that’s a detriment? CJ Stroud had Marvin Harrison Jr but he went balls out in the NFL. Ewers has one legit knock, he gets hurt. But he can play when he’s on the field. He’s a winner.

Yep doesn't pass the eye test. Subject to change of course over the course of the season. Joe Burrow comes to mind there.

I was a huge CJ stroud guy the year before we drafted him because I saw him routinely make NFL level throws against all competition

As I stated in my OP I will happily eat crow if I'm wrong I have nothing against Ewers personally I just don't see him being worthy of 1.1.

I'm not alone in this there are plenty of legitimate talent evaluators who don't have him as 1.1 either

    • I did not want to start or even think about *if* BY reverts back to pre-non last 9 games.   There is a lane in which Panthers are looking QB after this season, I feel its higher than most will realize. I mean....not kidding... has any team ever traded up to 1st overall twice in the teams history? I don't even want to think within 3 years, just foresee Tepper squeezing Dans and Brandts sacs to the point were they are forced to trade up for a another savior.....   The kicker is I feel this way with BY playing good-great..... I think there with be non-fixable problems for contract negotiations between BY&reps vs Panthers org on the whole. You can not pay 50+ million per over few years with 70% guarantees for 3,303 yards 15 TDs and 9 INTs......Cursed I tell you....
    • It's not surprising, but it's still surprising that many of these guys don't manage their money in such a way that provides them and their families a better lifestyle than most for the rest of their lives without even working a nine-to-five. I can't imagine making over a 100 mil for a decade and ultimately ruminating about supporting my family due to financial issues.
    • That why i mentioned the KC dynasty. Those three different playoff loses were not Allens fault, in fact 1-2 plays and Bills win. KC just have better players and better coaches and more luck.  Defense-wise, Bills have been trying to crack the Reid-Halhomes magic. Its near impossible with rules and KC home field advantage. Spags has started to force the league in naming him the best DC in NFL history. I agree if you take away Bill bielacheat.... Add in Andy Reid the best QB coach and brilliant play designer/play-caller, I mean that's too much for one QB to over-come on his own.  Just trolling or not, bad is bad scot. Allen is legit as any one QB has ever been.
