Bryce Young for Trevor Lawrence

I like the idea. Yes the contract is huge. But they're only gonna get bigger. Lawrence is struggling, but I think he can get back to the way he was his 2nd year. He's got the size, athleticism and arm. Seems to stay healthy. Still only 24 years old. Probably more suited to Canales' style.

I've watched them. Their offensive line is terrible. Their running backs, outside of Etienne, are terrible. Their number one receiver is Christian Kirk and their number two is Gabe Davis who was strictly a go ball guy in Buffalo, and Buffalo letting him walk should be all you need to know.

He was under duress all night and when they came out in the 2nd half, he looked like a new player. That tells me a few things, not least of which is that their coaching staff sucks and that Pederson was fired from Philly so soon after winning a Super Bowl for a reason.

I'd trade for Lawrence and his contract. Bryce isn't turning into a star and we ideally would play well enough to not be drafting first in 2025, otherwise Bryce would still be starting.

Suffice it to say I watch a lot of football, from Division 2, FCS, FBS, CFL, XFL, NFL and even Premier League and La Liga; my life and entertainment are and have been from the age of about 7, sports. Believe me when I say that Trevor Lawrence is not the problem in Jacksonville.

Give me Lawrence in this system with Dave Canales and at least three seasons, he will be great.

So they didn't draft Brian Thomas? The OL is underwhelming but it's still not a bottom 10 unit in the league. It's functional enough to perform.

I have seen multiple seasons of Lawrence not being great. His peak has been slightly above average starter quality.

The truth is....he is a bust. Not a bust to the extent that he isn't going to likely continue to be a starting caliber QB or priority backup for a long time but he isn't remotely close to a generational player. He's much more Ryan Tannehill than he is Patrick Mahomes. Nothing wrong with that, minus the "generational talent" label.

Andy may sign another team friendly contract if it means playing behind a cushy o line and baller receivers in an effort to have one more go at it and pad some career stats.

We need to stop the cycle of mediocre and losing. The road to ascension is build lines then get RIGHT QB. Every year we chase a damaged goods QB and put him behind an incomplete line. How has it worked out for us?  Right now our o line is Balling, but it’s almost a certainty that at least one person will miss some time due to injury this year. Depth is essential. Quality reps with your skill players is important. If a QB is there with the physical and cognitive attributes that you want in the draft, go for it. Otherwise, go late round on an untainted flier.

Trevor Lawrence is definitely not a generational talent.  A generational talent can win with an average offense around him. Brady did it, Drew Brees did it, Aaron Rogers did it, Mahomes is doing it.  They made the players around them look better.  I think of him as Matt Ryan, pretty good when you surround him with an all-star cast.

That being said, there is not a chance in he!! that the Jaguars trade him anytime soon.

    • Im not firm on many things football, but this statement or belief or strategy I am 100% for. Full Offseason the goal is to make the playoffs. Week 1, 1000% I want to win. Weeks 2-10,  1000% I want to win. Until the math stats 0.000000000% chance at NO playoffs, I want to win. *Once* there's no chance at the playoffs, I want to 100% lose every game until the end. You are still loser at 2-15 or 5-12, I want to never lose like this again. I want the best value for losing and suffering. Again the only goal is playoffs. Once in the playoffs anything can happen, I want to win the whole dam show. If you happen to lose in the first round, that's perfectly fine and lets work hard this upcoming off-season to get another chance to make them.  This is the ONLY way to play in the NFL. Anyone not understanding this method of strategy, please call your doctor for a visit...
    • Purdy's good but at the end of the day you're paying first class money for a business class seat.  It's a big problem with the salary cap.  QBs take most of it whether they are Pat Mahomes or not.
    • Purdy saved the 49ers from that three 1st picks for Trey Lance. People forget that. People also forget he should have MVP votes for the 23 season. He's been any where from the 8th(his best/23) to 14th ranked QB, he's legit and guys around top 10 get paid as QBs.....guys in 28th get paid too, he's 4x the QB Trevor Lawrence is and better than BY by miles as well...even without CMC, Samuel(whos a RB playing WE), and half the OL.    *BUT*    You non-believers missed this ultra important mistake that honestly made me reconsider all the praise I gave him. https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49ers-qb-brock-purdy-throws-blind-40-percent   That's is damming to my case and reset my thinking of his. That's nuclear scary now and I need some time.  too honest for me to overlook.
