Young man did a great job for his first real action, the future is bright for him as Shaq's replacement in the middle.

Generally speaking he has actually played quite poorly. But, he's also very much one of our "project" players that is being forced into action.

It's a good opportunity for him gain a ton of experience and reps while not really hurting us much due to the historically bad nature of our defense overall.

He was thrown into the game last week. This week will be interesting to see how he does with proper prep. Could show up pretty well given we’re playing a Shane Waldron offense and he’s got great sideline to sideline quickness. If that’s the case, I would caution not to overreact. Looking at the schedule, he could start hot and then cool.

Enjoyed what I heard this offseason though, was a pick I was big on. Lots of guys liked him as the Lb3/4 in the draft even though many here were a bit “who is this’d” by the pick.

We really need some of our draft picks to land, especially on defense. I hope his play can improve, the unit as a whole didn't look too great against the Bengals.

I doubt there will be much improvement for the defensive unit. But, if individual players can improve(Wallace being one) then I think it will be about as successful as it can be.

I suspect these lumps are gonna keep coming on D. It's just the side effect of having this little talent.

He's going to show his potential but he'll also make rookie  mistakes.  We need to be patient with him

Precisely. Same with XL and Sanders right now. Gotta give them a moment to breathe and let them settle into the roles.

Will have ups and downs. Especially with Trevin, as every position is dependent and our defense is depleted. Now he’s getting the calls and in the center of it all.

I liked the pick after looking at him and doing some reading. Stuff like being a team captain carries some weight too (he was, in college). Accountable.

He seems smart. This is the best thing for him really.

It was obvious that he was exhausted. It really does take a few games to get into "game shape." Practice doesn't get you there if you're an every down starter.

CBA protects them from being driven hard and really shows in the game.

Shaq going down sucks b/c he was playing really well, but I'm 100% onboard with letting Wallace start going forward.

The goal for the defense should be to try to improve & compete in spite of the injuries, but also with an eye towards next season.

I'm hopeful Canales can do much of what John Fox did in his 1st 2 seasons, but in reverse.

2002: Drafted Julius Peppers, rebuilt the defense

2003: Signed Jake Delhomme & Stephen Davis to complete the rebuild of the offense

Not saying we're going to be in the SB next year, but I think with how well the offensive rebuild has went, we should be in playoff contention next season if we're able to make the necessary improvements on defense through the draft & FA

    • Tepper makes the wrong decision in literally every case. It's laughable at this point. It is as hard as getting every single decision right. Give me one example of one thing he's got correct in 8 fuging years. It's no surprise that promoting the assistant GM that worked for the worst GM that I've ever seen was a mistake. This goes all the way back to insisting that Ron run a 3-4 and the defense goes to complete poo and we suck. That decision in my opinion cost us 3 or 4 more seasons of the greatest middle linebacker to ever do it.
    • Currently Cam and Bryce have the exact same career completion percentage at 59.9. The differences in their play/career arcs are immense, however.
    • LOL we have been talking about fixing Bryce Youngs footwork for almost 3 years now.if his footwork has shown little to no improvement in that amount of time then you might have to come to the realization while at the same time using a little common sense it's not natural to Bryce Young with his small stature/ size to step up in the pocket plant his feet & drive the ball from the back leg to the front leg while remaining stable.no instead you see BY becoming easily overly excited & then as a result starts alot of unessary scrambling & hopping around & maybe it's not necassirly he is scared all the time & it has more to do with his height & he is trying to find the right angles for visual purposes whatever it is he  puts himself in a position where he cannot stay balanced when he throws the ball & anytime you throw the ball unbalanced it not only effects your power but it also effects your accuracy/ timing point being the real problem with Bryce Youngs bad footwork is his small size ...just saying
