I knew from the day Cam was drafted, that his career would be short. It's just how he plays.  You can't play fearless without Consequences.

Exactly.  I loved him when he was here but his main strengths were big arm and mobility for his size and able to take hits.  I'm not saying he didn't have other strengths but those were his biggest ones.   Those are the main two things that made him special and the first two things that start to go with age.

Football is a physical sport.

Cam would still be playing had that hit vs the Steelers didn't screw his shoulder up.

Hell he played for more years even after the injury.  He could still play today he just doesn't have the arm strength to be a starter anymore. He could be a backup for Lamar Jackson. That's just not in his blood.

It's very easy to point the finger elsewhere, but the Panthers bear a LOT of the blame for Cam's abbreviated career. We never adequately attempted (or attempted at all, really) to build an offensive line around Cam. We're still dealing with the aftershocks of that decisions now, because our line has been a liability for going on a decade now.

I disagree.  Our 2015 line was quite good with the exception of Remmers, who was average.  He got a bad rap because our staff asked him to single handedly block one of the most dominant defensive players in the league in the biggest game of the year.

I do think we could have / should have done more on that front - of course - but he did have a good line at least that year.

One year does not a career make. There's an enormous difference between scrapping together a competent line for one year, and making a concerted effort to ensure the health and longevity of your franchise QB.

The only O-Lineman we drafted over the next 3 seasons was Taylor Moton. We didn't draft a guard until the 6th round in 2021 after the Super Bowl. You can't tell me that's making an effort to protect #1.

Cam is one hell of an entertainer. Watch him on his old show on Nickelodeon he had. The camera is his friend and though he may not sound refined, it doesn't mean poo because he tells it like it is and the guy is pretty damn intelligent and I can tell well read. He can also kick a bunch of aging pudgy punk ass youth kids football camp coaches asses at once which is another awesome trait he possesses. Complete freak of nature. I was around him during his season at Auburn just a tiny bit during one game and afterwards and what a hell of an absolute specimen of a an athlete. You can tell he is fearless and quite confident in anything and everything he does. I've been around some absolutely amazing athletes and Cam is the top of the top I have Personally interacted with and watched operate on the field very up close from a few feet away. I am convinced if Cam worked in a cubicle, he would be the top cubicle worker in whatever cubicle farm office he worked in. If Cam drove a tow truck, he would be the best tow truck driver in the history of tow trucks etc etc etc...

Also kelvin benjamin for literally giving up on the route and subsequent pick 6 in which Cam injured his shoulder

When you think about it: Cam is 35. If he never hurts that shoulder he is probably still our QB.

Ah who am I kidding Rhule would have cut him because he was a sniveling coward and scared Cam would be a bigger presence in the locker room

I honestly think that had more to do with Tepper. He wanted his stamp on the organization and he knew that as long as Cam was here this was his team. Tepper wanted the Panthers to be HIS team. Well, he got what he wanted. This is his team.

Yep, for all the hate Remmers gets about that game it's not his fault. He was a good RT for us but he had a glaring weakness against elite speed rushers. Beasley exposed that in our lone regular season loss. Our staff didn't make adjustments for that leading up to SB50 and the Broncos had a plan for Shula always reverting to keeping in extra blockers to allow for his downfield routes when his OL was struggling instead of mixing things up and focusing on getting the ball or faster. That game was about the refs letting them tee off on Cam's head despite blows to the head of the QB being the officiating point of emphasis that year and about Wade Phillips just straight up taking Shula and Rivers to school.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
