I mid-round pick that the Panthers will chose a player that will never contribute to the team.  Trading away good players for draft picks only work if you know how to draft....which the Panthers do not.  However, the Panthers probably have no choice if DJ no longer wants to be here.  Who can blame him.

Well that's it. You can't really fit him in the trading away good players bin because he isn't our player in the future. 10 games of a guy that doesn't want to be here anymore is what we'd be trading.

Do I wish it had been a better outcome where we'd be keeping him? Yeah but if he is copping the 'tude you have to move him out, almost like Robbie got moved.

If we can swing a 4th for Diontae I'll be very pleasantly surprised. 5th seems like the best return given what other players have been going for.

Naw that’s just stupid it’s more about the need and necessity he’s younger than DA and DHop. He’s 28 just turned it 3 months ago, they’re basically both 32 with lots and lots of miles on both WR. It’s not the same, he actually would produce equivalent to each but I’d say a little more bc of how easily he gets open and his YAC ability and his lack of wear and tear.
He's worth a three for Dallas to be competitive in their own division and the NFC. He’s worth a 3 if you’re old and rich and want to see success for your team before you have to leave this earth. He’s worth a three if you’re San Fran a stacked team who’s down a sharp route running WR that could help them get back to the big game. It’s all about necessity who wants to be able to compete with the top teams as of right now you’re going to have to overpay for that final piece, happens all the time.

Nice presentation bad logic

Well, when you are talking about Jerry Jones, are you really going to play the logic card?  We shall see--and it is a long shot but we who stick our necks out get that there will always be criticism from safe zones--but Jones is going to be desperate and there are few WRs he can pursue who are on the block, have Johnson's skills, and low salary.  I can't imagine any other WR right now checking those boxes.  Now, since he went all in with some contracts, he is cap strapped, and at 3-4, he is desperate.  Would a third rounder be a lot?  Yes--a ton--but any negotiator looks at the situation and if Jerry comes shopping, he will pay a premium price--Morgan will know what is in the pot and what cards Jones is holding.   Comparing this deal to other deals is discounting the situation.  If I am Jones, I would give up a third to save a season in which I am otherwise fully invested.

So basically, whatever we get for him is the value we got for Donte Jackson.

I could live with trading Donte Jackson for a 3rd. There is just going to have to be a team desperate enough to give up a 3rd for him.

And that team is Dallas.

Seriously--there are other teams who could take a shot at him.  LA Chargers are in the mix, and someone mentioned Detroit---that is a good option as well.  Detroit does not have the fire power to beat KC now, but Johnson would put them in the conversation.  Washington is another possibility.  I am not thinking we get more than a fourth or fifth in these scenarios.

Another idea someone mentioned was that Jones packages a deal for Hubbard and Johnson.  If he talks to their agents and learns that he could sign them both to extensions/new contracts, then if I were Jones, that is what I would do.

Gonna be interesting.

I wish you were right and the GM for that matter.  We got absolutely nothing for him basically.  Sad

    • Coker has certainly earned it. Good for him.
    • I don't think we don't call things aggressively, for a Canales offense, anyway. We don't have a QB who makes aggressive throws nor stresses defenses downfield. He is at a career low on 20+ attempts per game and his career 10-20 QB rating is abysmal.  That will always be a limiting factor IF you are looking for a high flying, downfield offense. I am not even that concerned about it, I just want to see effective offense and we decidedly do not possess that. A large chunk of that is Bryce. I think the second biggest chunk is Canales. All the other components(XL included) are fairly minor in comparison to those two things. I am an advocate of attempting to improve at QB. I am not focused on finding "The QB." We failed at that with Bryce. So let's just get better. If that's a one year vet or a draftee or a cheap trade or some combination of any/all, we should do that. We have to get that QB better. Bryce will fail in 2026 and we need to have REALISTIC options to take over when that happens. That ain't Andy Dalton or Hendon Hooker or Jack Plummer or Mike White or....you get the picture. Be serious about hedging that Bryce bet and not just having to make do if he struggles or gets injured.  My mind is definitely made up on Canales. It's year two and he hasn't improved much, nor do I think the bones of a good HC are there. Ron Rivera got to that point after two seasons and he was open about the changes he had to make and advice he got to make that leap in year 3. If we don't see the same after next year, how is he not just Brian Daboll?
    • Not really buying it because T-mac faces stiffer competition week in and week out.
