How long will Tepper really keep away is the question….and has he really gotten away.

Y’all spent way too much time worried about Tepper. I don’t think he’s any more involved than any other owner.

There was a time when 49er fans used to talk about Jed York this way, then he hired the right people now you don’t even know that he exist.

Yeah still blows my mind people on here say that after what he did in 1 offseason. Im not proclaiming him the savior or anything but what he’s done in 1 offseason was impressive and it’s really not even close. Filled major holes and drafted what seems pretty well 8 games in. Flipped a 7th into a starting CB, drafted what seems to be a future legit 1/2 WR combo, someone got us a 2nd next year (that was some black magic poo), no stupid cap decisions to date. Excited to see what he does this year

Anyone not impressed by what Dan Morgan has done so far is either willfully ignorant or just has been so scarred by the last 7 years that they instinctively think everything is bad.

This already looks like one of the best drafts in franchise history, and we needed worse than anything given the state of the roster Fitterer left.

Hell, it's not hyperbole to say DM got more out of this draft than everyone of Fitterers combined

Imagine if we have a defensive draft next year that's just as good...

By no means saying this will happen, but 2 drafts like that is how you go from one of the worst teams in the league to a contender.

It's also why this bullshit of needing 7 years to rebuild is just that...

You can completely change the trajectory of a team in the modern NFL in 2 years max if you have the right GM, coach, and QB

First off, I know, it's just stats, but I do think there's been enough shown to warrant some love here--

Here's what they are tracking/on-pace for in 17-games this year.  And honestly, it could be more given the rookie receivers are now getting more target share:

R1 Xavier Legette WR

48 rec, 459 yards, 9.4 avg, 8 TDs

He's fun.  He's got a nose for the ball in the RZ.  Has proven he can get open at this level.  Happy to have my suspicions on him proven wrong.

R2 Jonathan Brooks RB

zilch - okay...expected here lol

R3 Trevin Wallace LB

81 tackle, 53 solo, 4 FFs, 2 FRs

He's got some work to do but he's shown a lot for being thrust into the role he has this early.  Some promise here -- don't let the volume fool you, there's some development to be had, but he could make strides under the right mentors/coaching.

R4 Ja'Tavion Sanders TE

45 rec, 462 yards, 10.1 avg- no TDs yet but I imagine he'll get one

He had his best game so far today.  He showed a lot of fire and I like the whole report I'm seeing grow between JT and XL.  Those two are buds and could be good here.  Has already shown more than most of our drafted TEs in the 2000s.

R5 Chau Smith-Wade NB

34 tackles, 17 solo

He's had some blunders, but has also played alright at times.  Better than others we've experimented with at NB but may not stick.  Still, good to see him getting snaps and he landed 5 tackles today.

UDFA Jalen Coker WR

40 rec 629 yards 15.9 avg 3 TDs

A legitimate sleeper we may have found - he wasn't active/given snaps until CHI so he he's pacing higher.  Awesome route running, knows how to create leverage, just a really smart player.

*edit: add

UDFA Demani Richardson DB

41 tackles, 27 solo

I’ll admit wasn’t entirely keyed in on him last week — he had a series where they tried to pick on him and he held his own. He’s shown nicely. He gets after it quickly

One of my rules is to not judge the rookie class until the start of their 2nd season week 1. But early returns are looking great even with nothing from brooks. The UDFAs haul of Coker, Richardardson, and even raym is MUCH welcomed injection of talent. There's still a couple others hanging around in - Plum and Johnson's.

these wavier claims are rookies too- Bratholomew, Kingston.

With the Dalton, and whole STs being FAs for the coming 2025, this team could be one of the youngest given the draft picks.

Crumedy is back with brooks this week, good to give them exp in this 2-7 season.

So all that added and if you make me break a rule, Morgan did great especially with UDFAs and wavier claims.

FYI the 7th rounder Michael Barret that was traded for Michael Jackson, Seahawks cut him weeks ago and he landed on brown PS. Morgan got more value, props to him.

I’m starting to think DM got the job by showing Tepper his draft lists. I bet he nailed some pro bowl players that were never on Fitts radar

With Dan Morgan, I don’t see this team trying to get cute or gimmicky talent, and I especially don’t see him REACHING for gimmicky tweeners.

Football

Players

If he can get guys in his image, we’ll be rolling.

I also don’t subscribe to the multi year plan to rebuild. If you hit a couple drafts just right…

I like the thinking but have to ask, you think he had those notarized in anticipation?

Okay kidding but if Tepper is as involved as people think he would know who Morgan liked.

Also, if Tepper would have been happy with everything Morgan had done in cahoots with Fitterer, well he already had it and fired it. So I think there has to be some divergence from Fitterer somewhere in the timeline, or he wouldn't be here.

Yeah exactly. Nothing as formal as a list but say DM was advocating for Stroud and Fitt Bryce. DM Puka and Fitt Mingo. That would probably stick with Tepp

    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
    • Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
