My Personal Takeaway from This Game vs Cheifs

We finally have a decent offensive game and now we're ready to outright say that offense isn't a huge issue? 30th in the NFL in average points per game begs to differ.

I think a lot of fans are overreacting to this game due to the expectation that we were likely going to get blown out. Let's see a few more like this before we start claiming problems have been solved.

I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and they need to be more consistent in scoring points.

I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo.

They have scored 20 or more in 6 out of 11 games and scored 30 or more in 2 out of 11 games played this year. And the season isn't over yet. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season .

I'd say that's a pretty decent improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.

Just now, Ricky Spanish said:

Bryce, Canales, and the team in general are doing exactly what I hoped would happen this season: showing improvement as the year goes on. I knew wins would be sparse, but as long as the team improved and kept things competitive, I'd be happy.

This was the first game in I don't know how long I was actually excited to watch as it was happening.

They're showing improvement and that gives hope for the future, which is all you could ask for this season.

I'm not crowning anyone and I'm not proclaiming it's a surefire thing, but it's nice to see the team get a little better each week in different areas as the season goes on.

    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
    • poo I doubt any Bucs fan would trade Baker for BY either lol.
