It's not hindsight. Called it then. Called it with TMJ over Humphrey. Our center play has been hot garbage for damn near a decade and relying on a guy moved from guard to C coming off back to back injury seasons was stupid. I've been beating the drum for a center since we traded for Paradis.

yeah but nobody cared then just like nobody cares now.

It’s a weird take given how they’ve had consistently good center play from a rotating cast of guys there this season. It’s not a valuable position to invest in and they absolutely should not set a high pick on fire trying to fix a problem that isn’t broken.

if anything this season has completely disassembled the argument that they should so we find it odd you’re trying to beat the drum for it just because a guy got injured

Took Brooks who was injured during the draft, but wouldn't touch Payton Wilson who was actually healthy because of his injury history.  Complete Panthers logic.

Just imagine where we would be right now with Wilson’s 33 tackles on the season? Total game changer

He's a reserve for the Steelers because they are actually deep..  Imagine the amount of tackles he would have in our defense that can't stop the rush.  I have no doubt WAY more than Wallace.

Point remains, they veered away from a healthy dude because of past injuries and actually drafted a dude with a serious one at the time. STUPID.

We also have a 1000 yard rusher picked in the fourth round on the roster.. They really need to stop drafting RBs so early. There's no point

It's so fuging infuriating that people cannot see something that is so simple.

A top 5 RB is already at an AAV of almost $8.5 mil.

It's literally the weakest position on the OL and has been from Corbett to BC to Mays. Why not get a top center? I mean, they are literally the cheapest of all OL.

He is a significantly more NFL ready guy than Wallace now but he is also a lot older. I also probably would have rather had Wilson but I completely understand the reasons to avoid him. The same reasons we should have avoided a far lower value position in RB in the 2nd.

I am way less perturbed about taking Wallace over Wilson than I am Brooks over Frazier. That's a lightspeed stupid move that most intelligent Huddlers could have even made while above a legal driving BAC limit.

Frazier made more sense than Brooks. We were going to have a starting C that was switching from guard on the last year of his contract. Taking a RB with a busted wheel for a 2-15 team isn't really a luxury you can afford.

This is the crux of the Panthers situation. Consistently making luxury picks that don't pan out.

TBH, it's been a rough draft so far. XL is looking suspect for a guy that was a trade up. Brooks may never play meaningful snaps for us again. Wallace could be a guy? Hard to say so far. Sanders may be a stud. The guys after that are basically nothing.

If XL or Wallace don't pan out, this was a classic Panthers dumpster fire draft.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
