Early NFL offseason chatter

And also...

Sure didn't see that coming 😳

Edit: So far Florio seems to be the only national news source reporting this. Have seen a lot of 49er fans talking about it but nobody outside of Florio reporting.

Can't say if this is legit or not. If it isn't, I guess Florio got suckered 🤔

Its not even that.  The oline and injuries decimated the team and they still won the division and now you want your 3rd year qb learning a new system? Doesnt make sense unless I am missing something

I wasn't trying to claim it makes sense.  That's just the way the league seems to work now.  Last year Slowik was getting HC interviews.  This year he's fired.  Stroud just didn't play as well this year.  Is that his fault?  Maybe?  Maybe not.

Baker got 2 guys HC gigs in 2 years.

I got you man.  The league is nuts and can turn on you quick it seems.  Yeah I dont think strouds play was a result of the play calling and I watched a ton of Texans this year and last.  It was just clear guys were going down left and right and the oline was fuging brutal.  I hope they fired that coach as well.  That said somebody is going to snatch BS up real quick

He'll get another shot for sure.  FWIW, I thought Stroud finished pretty well for a sophomore slump type season.

I echo the confusion and dumbness of firing slowik. Now CJ will learn a new system and set him back. They had a rash of injuries on OL and WRs, but whatever's...

I swear the NFL is the worst about job security.  If you're not Mike Tomlin, John harb, or Andy Reid.....you're going to get fired within 2 years.

From what I read the offense in year two was extremely predictable and stale, even the players, including Stroud, were complaining about it. He also apparently insisted on the C to do the line calls instead of Stroud. So it looked good on the surface to everyone on the outside, but inside the building a lot of people were unhappy.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
