In what world are the Raiders the job that Ben Johnson has been waiting on?

They have no QB and they're in a division with Mahomes/Reid, Herbert/Harbaugh, Nix/Payton, QB/HC combos.

There really isn't anything attractive about that job right now

Pats are being accused of thumbing their nose at the Rooney Rule...

Shocking, I know 😕

The problem with it is if Glenn, a legitimate HC candidate, was praised for turning them down to interview because he knew they were just doing it for the rule because they wanted Vrabel.

Then what are they supposed to do except bring in guys who know they aren't getting the job just to satisfy the rule so they can make their hire?

Vrabel is as legitimate a HC candidate imaginable, he shouldn't have been fired by the Titans in the first place, and there is a clear connection between the two of them.  I get the point of the rule, but at the same time, there are situations like this where the rule was going to make any interview a non legitimate one because everyone knew who they were hiring.

I assume Deion ends up in Dallas now

Shadeur will probably force his way to Dallas without them having to trade to which will take another position player off board for us

Dak has a full no trade clause

Dak to the Jets for Rodgers and #8.

#8 and #12 (and whatever else they'd need to include) to the Browns to take Shedeur.

Rodgers gets 1 season to make a SB run while he mentors Shedeur for the season and then Shedeur takes over in year 2.

Honestly, it wouldn't be the worst scenario since I don't think Shedeur is going to be a great QB anyways, might as well give him a redshirt year learning from one of the best to ever do it.

And if I'm the Jets, I'm definitely doing that as I think Dak is still a good QB who likely can handle the NY media and will allow you to contend for the playoffs right away.  They're not finding a better QB solution this offseason than Dak would be.

IIRC last year, Johnson was done deal to Washington for a couple of weeks before he backed out.   Might like to be courted.

Sure, but they had the #2 pick and aren't in that division with those QB's and HC's

I agree, that's what I'm saying.  Don't think he's actually serious, but likes to be chased.  Last year it was Wash, this year will be Vegas.  (Assuming that x post has any validity.).

I gave up trying to embed this one. The board is extra crappy today 👿

Maybe I get pooed on but while I understand the point of the rooney rule I think it's stupid and patronizing if you've already made up your mind who you're going to hire to interview people you have no interest in hiring just to check a box. If you're doing a coaching search it 100% makes sense.  But yes please take draft picks from them or something because fug the pats

I think he'll still strongly consider the Jags because they have a QB for him to work with (maybe the Bears too, but I just don't think he wants to deal with that franchise and be in such a tough division).

If he doesn't go down to Jacksonville though, I think he waits until next offseason to try and go to wherever gets the #1 pick so he can draft Arch

I heard or read that he was eyeballing the Jags job at one time.  We shall see--after that owner threw the GM under the bus on national TV, I might reconsider---It was my opinion at the time that Jerry Richardson's "Pie chart" presser days before underclassmen had to declare for the draft was the reason Andrew Luck went back to school--same effect.  If you recall, he made no damn sense, he seemed to hit on Morgan Fogherty and he trashed Darin Gantt.

    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
