As for the other 20 Panthers who are eligible to become unrestricted free agents, here is the likelihood each will be re-signed:

QB Andy Dalton: Likely. He's been instrumental in Bryce Young's growth. Their relationship is strong, and he's still capable of winning games.

C Austin Corbett: Unlikely. He wants to go to a team where he's the unquestioned starter, and Carolina has a younger, cheaper option in Cade Mays.

OL Brady Christensen: Unlikely. He was invaluable as the sixth man but has proved he can be a starter, so he'll get more money elsewhere.

TE Tommy Tremble: Likely. Second-year player Ja'Tavion Sanders is the future, but Tremble is a proven contributor.

TE Ian Thomas: Unlikely. Being the team's best blocking tight end won't be enough to keep his job.

TE Feleipe Franks: Maybe. He should be an affordable option.

WR David Moore: Likely. A low-cost veteran who's been with Canales in Seattle, Tampa Bay and Carolina.

RB Mike Boone: Unlikely. He wasn't the go-to back when Chuba Hubbard's season ended and the team needs to upgrade the depth.

DE DeShawn Williams: Unlikely. He had only 16 tackles and half a sack for a defense that ranked last in the NFL.

OLB Cam Gill: Unlikely. He could be kept for depth, but this defense will get an overhaul, particularly at OLB.

CB Michael Jackson: Likely. Carolina wants to upgrade opposite Jaycee Horn, but Jackson played well enough to get another deal.

CB Caleb Farley: Maybe. The former first-rounder showed some promise and wants to remain close to home, so he could offer depth at an affordable contract.

S Xavier Woods: Unlikely. His unnecessary roughness penalties were piling up, so don't be surprised by an upgrade here.

S Jordan Fuller: Maybe. But the Panthers have a younger player in Demani Richardson they want to get a look at.

S Nick Scott: Maybe. He knows the system but could be a casualty in the Panthers' defensive upgrades.

S Sam Franklin Jr: Likely. He is a key special teams member.

S Lonnie Johnson Jr: Unlikely. Another player who could move on as part of the defensive upgrades.

P Johnny Hekker: Maybe. He is a proven veteran but ranked 29th in yards per punt (45.7) and 17th in net yards per punt (41.5), so much will depend on price.

K Eddy Pineiro: Unlikely. Carolina didn't pay him what he wanted last year, and he ranked 22nd in field goal percentage (84.6%).

LS JJ Jansen: Likely. At 39, he's still one of the best in the business.

Oops i read woods as likely 

I don’t see a problem bringing back Dalton. Keeping the QB room the same after the strides Bryce made is a no brainer. Dalton seems to have a positive impact on BY. Also, he’s still a capable backup. Just curious, who would you want over Dalton?

Personally I’d rather have someone a little more durable.  Plus Andy was awful last year besides the raiders game.

Dalton serves absolutely zero purpose.  Either bring in a rookie or a younger vet

This "mentor" angle is ridiculous. Bryce Young doesn't need a mentor he's a first overall pick entering his third season. Even beyond that the simple fact is Andy Dalton is simply not a good QB and he's at the tail end of his career.

You bring in a young QB or a younger vet for the same level of investment. This really isn't difficult.

      overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
