QB Rankings by team

For the lazies

30. Carolina Panthers: Matt Moore(notes) did some pretty impressive things in his first real opportunity to play. His 98.5 rating, 8 TD passes, two interceptions and especially his 7.6 yards per attempt over 138 passes are pretty good. Throw in the fact that he did most of that against playoff teams New England, New Orleans and Minnesota and it gets more interesting. That said, if Moore falters at all, second-round pick Jimmy Clausen(notes) is quickly going to be the flavor of the month in Charlotte.

the write up sounds decent, but the ranking?!?!?

27. St. Louis Rams: Technically, A.J. Feeley(notes) is going to be the starter from the beginning of the season. That means Feeley gets beat up for at least the first half of the season before Sam Bradford(notes) gets some spot duty.

How in the hell are you going to rank the Rams ahead of us? Feeley was our 3rd string QB last year and suddenly him being in St. Louis makes their situation better than ours? I would like to get my hands on what Jason Cole has been smoking!

i'd put our QB core, based on stats and starts alone, definitely before the rams, and definitely before the eagles, how we are ranked after them is beyond me...

Kolb's career stats:

60.8% completion percentage

885 yards passing

6.8 yards per attempt

4TDs

7INTs

only 2 starts

68.9 career QBR

Moore rapes him in almost each category:

59.4% completion percentage

1783 yards passing

7.2 yards per attempt

11 TDs

7 INTs

8 starts

career QBR of 84.5

How we are so low on that one is beyond me, especially because the logic for where he ranked us would apply to the eagles just as much, if not moore (oh yes, i did just pun that bitch up). Kolb is even more inexperienced than Moore is...

oh well, hopefully Moore will prove everyone wrong this season.

Someone remember this one for the end of the season. I bet it will be fun to read again.

Bookmarked it just for that reason.

Anyway, I'd be willing to bet that more than a little of that ranking is based on overall passing stats (not just Moore) from last season. Delhomme's season long meltdown was a pretty significant story while Moore's success was not. The QB's in Carolina will be hiding in Jake's shadow until we're 10-0 with a top five rated passing game.

    • Decided last minute to to take family to game.  Cheap tickets sec 134 (which is kindof sad in of itself) made the 10 hour roundtrip and glad as hell I did.   - Defense played out of their mind.  Mike Jack smithwade looking at you -Penix is fuging terrible, not worried about him at all - Falcons, wtf were you doing, running when you should be passing and vice versa.  Why the fug didnt you run the ball on us?  - Canales, I get you are green but damn man tighten up your time management  - We won so not going to bag on Bryce too much but yeah man to argue he isnt limited is lol funny - We finally have a kicker and that feels kindof good all things considered - someone earlier mentioned tepper and we didnt see him in the box the entire game, not sure what thats about -Chubba, Sanders and Tet took some absolute monster shots and popped back up, not sure how they do it because it sounds horrific.  Chubba took one right in front of us and he got up laughing.  wow
    • My exact list for the shout outs in the same order (though I admittedly had the rookie edges @ #4 and Fitz @ #1)
    • Yesterday was also the first time we saw all three phases of this team play complimentary football during not just Canales' tenure but Young's as well. While he didn't have to light it up through the air, he did spread the ball around to nine different players. TMac's drops hurt, but the team was able to rally still thanks to the defense finally getting to play with a lead. Plus, TMac still had his positive moments like the catch and run as well as the poster-shot he created by climbing the ladder. I hope that this lit a fire under XL. With Tremayne's emergence and Coker coming back from IR in the next 1 - 3 weeks there is going to be less patience with his issues. Let's not forget though the most important thing to watch for: how XL responds to the adversity. Nobody is going to have a perfect career, but how they handle the down lows will be what gives them a chance to get back to experiencing the highs again.
