I’m cool with it.

This team is just so bad culturally and talent wise. Even if they overpay for FAs now it won’t really bite us because we need so many more good drafts to get back to something competitive.

Signing a star D-lineman would help take some pressure off of the 1st pick to be defense or it would help make a drafted defender more effective.

Well said man, signing a stud DT would allow us to take true BPA across the draft. Plus I’m tired of paying old players on a rebuilding team, sign young proven guys. Add up all the dead weight contracts we have signed over the past few years, Shy Tuttle, Hayden Hurst, Von Bell, Ian Thomas etc and we could have signed atleast a few really solid guys, we gotta stop beating bin hunting these overpriced vets.

Why can’t Derrick Brown play DT?

Not sure what you mean? Every defensive personnel lineup requires at least two DTS not even counting depth or additional DTS for different packages.

I think the 3/4 phrasing (position names) creates confusion.  DT is the NT and DEs are 300 lb ers who cover the 3T-5T spots.  Of course, the OLBs are the edge players.  Sometimes when we chat about, people call the 3-4 DEs DTs and it gets confusing.  Not to be condescending, but it used to trip me up at times.

    • I dont think people realize how hard it is to find a consistent starting QB in the NFL. Byrce will not heart us to a SB but I do think he can manage to get us one or close..go all in on defense and change the Offensive passing game and play calls. I really think our biggest problem is our HC.  Take New Orleans QB for example, switch him and Bryce and I promise you it'll look similar or worse. New Orleans OC is levels ahead of Canales. And as far as the draft goes, in this division with as much rb talent as we face ..the answer...this guy:    Pick up a couple edge rushers in FA along with a corner and plug this guy in Rozeboom's spot. Defense solved. But only if we get a top tier rusher on that dline....jus saying
    • I think I'm going to the game in Los Angeles vs Paraguay, and the England / Croatia game here in Dallas since my mom is British.  For decent seats anywhere in the building(s) it looks like it will be upwards of $7k for the two games.  Insane. Just for perspective, you could buy field level EPL tickets for any one of the top sides in the league, and it would be 10% of the price you'll pay for crappy seats at the World Cup.
    • Meh… I knew this thread would turn into a Bryce/Tua comparison, when they couldn’t be further apart situations.   Dolphins catered there whole offense toward Tua, they brought in a coach that would run a Tua friendly offense, the went in got the best most explosive WR in the NFL and paired him the fastest WR in that years draft. Panthers have done the opposite, they went and got a Pete Carroll disciple who likes to run the ball under center, they drafted big slow WR who got little separation in college. Literally the polar opposite of Bryce’s scouting report coming out of Alabama.   Tua was a decent QB 2 years ago, but the concussions, lack of movement have caught up to him. He never had a great arm to begin with but now since he doesn’t want to get hit he’s taking the whole offense down with him.
