Do we really want a true #1 WR?

Well we also drafted Smith as a KR/PR in the 3rd round.

We also signed Coker as a UDFA to be on our PS, basically.

Maybe we just aren't that good at seeing who a #1 WR is?

To that note.......have you watched a lot of DK Metcalf full games? Not the highlights, I mean the full games.

I haven’t watched a full NFL game in years. I moved on. But the fact remains, you need a number 1.  Ask the Vikings if Justin Jefferson makes them much better. San Fran will miss Debo.

I mean Deebo is nothing close to a #1 WR.

IDC about "A #1" give me a MFer who cam play the position very well. Maybe focus on that first and, shocker, you end up with a #1.

That's a big problem with our franchise, IMO. They are also focused on "A #1 WR" and it blinds them to just straight up, a very good WR who knows how to fuging play the position. You think maybe that Kupp or Nacua or Nico Collins were drafted as #1 WR's in the middle or later rounds? Or were they just really good fuging football players that actually ended up being number 1 guys BECAUSE they happened to be great at football?

I do know DK is better than anything we have and would help 17 develop.  Theilen would have his career extended by the pressure coming off him.

Not saying I am not interested in DL but it has to be for a reaonable price. And Panthers fans also will need to come to grips with the fact that you are never going to see superstar production from Metcalf. He will produce at a top 15ish clip if he stays healthy and he will be a hell of a focal point for some defenses.

What a dumb thread. Did you not want Steve smith?? A true 1 opens up the whole offense for other players. Takes away doubles and coverages.  Guys like 17 and others will have easier 1-1 matchups.  DK helps in the run game.   That like saying, do we really want a QB1??   This fanbase is pistol whipped from bad years that dumb thoughts travel to this board.

Did you watch the video? Justin Jefferson has amazing stats but the Vikings have won nothing in the playoffs with him. In fact he was basically shut down. Having a really good QB is important, but so is an offensive line, add a good OC too and you need running game. Football needs balance so the thread was about do we really need a true #1 of just a few really good WRs, a good catching TE and a running game to be balanced enough to win... in the playoffs. Steve Smith took a few years, he had Mushin on the other side and Walls at TE and great RBs.

Definitely agree on the DK standpoint.  Seahawks fans don't even love him.  He makes flash plays but he's not a top 10 wr or anything.   The main thing I've noticed is our front office always prioritizes what receivers can do after they get the ball in their hands.  I would MUCH rather prioritize what the receiver does before they get the ball in their hands.

I like how this highlights that one particular player/position is not going to carry a football team to a championship.

It's kind of like how folks believe it's a QB... but even Brady needed a defense to keep games manageable. It is a team game in every sense of the classification.

Trade down or BPA it up. Don't be stupid. Don't pine to be the smartest guy in the room. Just get a good fuging player. Simple as that.

What if BPA ends up being a TE after all the interviews, pro days, etc? Say Loveland from Michigan. Would you be fine taking him at 8?

I mean, you need more than just a #1 caliber WR.  It would be like just only having a top 5 QB and giving him no one to make plays around him.

Maybe your #1 WR is a TE.  But most really good teams, have top tier caliber receiving options.

I am fine taking a real BPA. TBH, I don't trust a Panthers BPA.

Maybe you should go back and read your own posts when you're sober from time to time before bashing others.

    • Another Guard?? Small ball was just a meme right?????   Again can anyone confirm Kon had more than 2 dunks for the season?? I watched more highlights and saw lots of layups. Did see one thunder dunk tho...   Jeff just needs to finish this off-season with a guard package trade for a PF/C. Call Portland, that's a start!
    • XL treatment is in the top 5 What The Fuccks for the the huddle. It just happens that the 32nd team and 33rd team GMs knew each other very well. Panthers viewed the 5th year option as being worth a late 6th and a trade was made to make XL a 1st rounder.  He had injuries in OTAs, mini camp and TC. Like others had more injuries in season and just kept playing. Half the season was bad BY and dalton. He still had 500 yds, 5 TDs, and like 45 recs.  Just super weird the treatment. BTW people love to focus on the bad plays, but there was only one WR that caught a TD on the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, can you guess who that was?? By many accounts the Pats wanted XL badly and had to select Polk instead, there's strong rumors that Polk is either going to be cut or traded for a 2078 7th rounder. Panthers could have easily been in this situation if not for the Bills allowing the trade up. It pays to have friends.... I feel XL will force some fans to plates of raccoon as he develops. (please stay healthy)
