Anyone else worried for Beason...

Lumps

Didn't look too hot at OLB, and it is somewhat now easier to direct a play completely away from him. I know it's just one preseason game but Beason usually knows what he is doing and what is going on.

I am sure if Beason tries hard he can master it but why? I'm hearing OLB means more in meeks system, but that's not the reason Beason moved, it's because of a Davis' injury...so why?

Why did we have to move him? I want to state I am fully against this notion and I want him to stay MLB no matter what. Maybe I'm just paranoid but the Panther's don't really have a all star defense and to lose the effectiveness of Beason, the only 'all star' on defense, where we know it will come through seems silly.

I think he only looked lost on one play, maybe two tops. Everyone is overreacting I think. There was one play in particular where he was held for like three seconds, and STILL ran five yards up the field to make the tackle. He is just as nuts as he has always been, it doesn't matter if he stands three yards to the left/right/whatever of where he did last year.

Abh and I brain trust eachother and agree that he has played this spot before, but that was a whole different venue. It made no sense to me, to take a guy, who owned the position, and relocate him. WE did not get max effect when we did that to our Oline, we managed...I want to dominate. Beason admitted it took a lot of eye movement and guessing, having to watch middle and side movement.

Davis is watching his career go down the tubes I am afraid. Sad.

    • Oh I know you’re not defending him, an I’m not even talking about league or legal punishments. But DV and hitting a police officer with his car, are the type of crimes that regardless of NFL or legal punishments, I think it’s the type of thing that would keep teams from ever signing him in the future
    • That's the first thing I think of when I see Bevell's name.....kinda like Chris Webber and timeouts.  I thought he was a decent OC previously and he was up for the Jets OC. Seeing who they went with instead of Bevell is concerning. He, Dave and Dan go way back to Seattle days so there's alignment there, as we know this franchise embodies.  Looking back at Idzik, I do wonder if maybe 2026 is a year where he maybe transitions out from under Dave's wing. I thought they went farther back than 2019. Not that seven years is nothing in coaching, but maybe Dan and Dave want Bevell or someone with more expreience at Dave's side as we begin to make our move from cellar dwellers to NFC royalty.
    • Wise move: yeah. And unexpected. It was hard to see how to navigate the situation to where If they feel like Canales should be relieved of the play calling burden they have a legit person to give it to. Because to this point, they didn’t.  And they did it without firing Idzik. Who is from a football family background and probably has potential - he just isn’t there yet for the play calling trust.  Both the HC and the OC can lean on this man, who has been an interim HC twice himself and a SB OC. It checks a lot of boxes on the surface.    And another set of qualified eyes, with an unbiased outside perspective, evaluating the QB situation seems like a good thing as well.
