Growing Sense that we take Mykel/Shemar, No matter who's available

He’s a Tepper pick. Tep loves drafting local guys.

It's quite possible. He wouldn't be a bad pick for the Panthers honestly. Although I would probably take Starks if I were going to take a safety but that's just me. I think they are not counting on Walker or Graham to be there. I think the Mykel Williams talk is just talk. He is just a younger version of what they already have on the roster.

Being 6’3 230 Emmanwori is bigger than Shaq - some teams maybe looking at him as an offball lb. Great prospect. I think Starks is a late 1st at best

I'm not ready to slot these guys just yet. The rankings are all over the place. If you go on just raw talent alone the two safties rank higher than all but 1 edge rusher. So there's that. They are more talented than  Walker in my book, and maybe all but 1 CB and that's Barron. Johnson is right behind Starks and Emmanwori from a Panthers perspective.

If I were to make a guess as to who the Panthers will draft at 8 it would be Emannwori, the safety out of SC. So far they have spent more time on him than anyone.

He to me is a surefire plug n play at the fs safety spot for us. We run a ton of 3 safety plays too.  He is 1 of 4 I wouldn't be Mad at. His gametape matches his testing and he has high IQ amd character.

I wouldn't be pissed if it was Mykel Williams but Shemar Stewart HARD PASS. Sick of the 'tweener light in the loafers type

6'6 291 is no tweener. He has just never done shizz but his size is ideal for a 4-3 end. Don't see where he'd fit in here though except the end of the bench.

I mean he fits this team perfectly. I have considered the possibility that a S might be the pick for sometime now. The edge talk has drowned out any other position talk except the TE Warren. They only reason to consider not to go defense at 8 is if a generational talent on offense is there. Most seem to think that's Warren. So for now I'm going with Emannwori as the front runner.

I quit saying it when people told me he is a second rounder. I call B.S.

Emannwori will be a top 15 pick. Starks is hard to read. He has shown to have more versatility in the secondary but whether that is more in demand is another story.

The closer we get to the draft the more I wonder if we'd consider trading up with the Pats if Abdul Carter falls to #4.

They need OL badly and our pick at #8 is in the perfect spot to get one of the top tackles.

It'd probably take our 2nd rounder to get it done, which wouldn't be ideal but to be able to land Carter it might be worth it, especially if we can trade our 3rd + one or both of our 4ths to move back up into the 2nd later on.

Something like this...

Warren is an enigma for a offense. If you take him you will have to change your offense to take advantage of his abilities. You will basically have to become a Ravens style offense. You will be running 2 and 3 TE sets and run the ball a lot more than you pass. Your defense will still be ass and you will not be successful in shootouts.

He has also been openly saying he wants Carolina to draft him with all of the former gamecocks on the team

    • This is a good take it really is to the point dc needs to let the world see the real byoung b/c right now everyone in the media and tepper has had blinders on when it comes to young.  Its hard to even know where the panthers are at skill player wise with such horrible qb play.  I doubt it but legette may be a probowl wr he just cant throw the ball and catch it.  I am just so sick of every excuse in the book for byoung.  LIstened to a podcast and the guy was going over how many different options byoung had on the int and all of them were ok except for the one where he threw an int.  He said the play could be run by a hs qb and they would typically make a good decision.
    • I certainly have my complaints about Canales but I'm not ready to fire him yet for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, Tepper has made this one of the least appealing jobs in the league. Morgan and Canales are here to begin with in large part because guys higher on the wish list take other jobs. If you fire Canales you're gonna end up replacing him with another third tier candidate who wasn't being seriously considered by other teams with openings. That's just the reality of the situation right now as far as I can tell. Secondly, despite plenty of room for critique, we are 6-6 despite the worst QB play in the league. That's really damn hard to pull off in the modern NFL. Especially when your D isn't dominant. Our D is greatly improved but is still a slightly below average overall defense ranking 18th in yards per game allowed and 20th in points allowed. Going 6-6 with atrocious QB play and slightly below average defensive play is pretty damn impressive. Even more impressive when you also factor in that we're in the red on turnovers differential at -3. When you combine league worst QB play with slightly below average D and negative turnover differential honestly you'd expect to be in play for the #1 overall pick, not 6-6 and having just played a game that a win would have you leading the division. So yeah, even though I'm far from sold I advocate for patience with Canales for the time being. If you ask me if I'm bringing him back next year, I'm a yes barring a catastrophic meltdown down the stretch which admittedly is very much a possibility.
