Williams Trade Story (The Actual Source)

Williams could be the type of player you always regret trading.

I'm almost brave enough to say he IS a player you always regret trading.

agreed. you don't let a special talent like that go regardless of what else you have on the team.

packers would have to give up a whole lot to replace that talent. scrub like james jones and another scrub you pick up in the 4th round or whatever is never going to equal willliams.

you build up strengths in one area and keep them strong then build up the other parts around it. you don't trade off known talent for what you hope might amount to something.

keep double trouble as long as possible and build around them.

I'm sorry but the if all we are getting for compensation is a 3rd and a conditional pick I will personal tar and feather Hurney. He is easily one of the best backs in the NFL if you can't get at least a single 1st or 2nd and a player for him you are getting ripped.

So there is a trade story of Williams to the Packers and Smith to the Redskins...can't wait until someone starts the Beason to the Eagles one!

The Smith story was just somebody misreading Tom Sorenson and then other guys making a mountain out of a molehill.

This one does seem to have actual details to it, if the writer is to be believed.

His profile is that of a guy who conceivably could have some info, but that doesn't mean he actually does.

Even if the story turns out to have legs though, it's about two weeks from fruition.

Week 6 is the trade deadline.

It'd have about a span of 5 days to happen.

Yeah I know...I think the scary part is how believable this sounds...

This is what happens when you're a young 0-3 team, everyone thinks you're gonna have a fire sale.

I don't see any scenario where we trade DeAngelo. I can tell you that sometimes teams open trade talks about a player they have no intention to trade simply to get their foot in the door so they can trade for something else...

I really think we'd be making a mistake if we let Williams go. Yes, the panthers like their running backs, but how the hell Sutton is more valuable than Williams is beyond me (Yes I know Sutton's versatility is great). I also know that we have Stew, who is great, and Goodson, who is showing flashes, but Goodson doesn't seem like an every down back to me...

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
