If we sign a FA WR

Of course I wouldn't consider him a failure. I didn't expect him to really play at all this season, as he's going to need a lot of time to learn a completely new position.

Having two receivers out (one of which barely saw the field anyway) doesn't change the fact that Edwards just isn't ready right now. If Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen went down, do you think we'd start Tony Pike or go after someone else?

Where he was drafted has nothing to do with if he's ready to play or not. Unfortunately, he'll always be judged in light of this.

Don't start with the reality check stuff.....

jerry's whole plan this season has been to rebuild and invest in the future. why is it such a shock that a wide receiver with big-time potential after a year or so to catch up to his position was drafted? fits into jerry's plan perfectly.

Tell that to the two rookies with less draft investment starting ahead of him.

:ciappa:

Edwards didn't even play the position in college.

and neither Gettis or LaFell will be legit threats this year. Fans expect them to be but that position takes time. Expecting Edwards to do anything this year is absurd...outside of a couple glimpses of what he will do later. Denver invested a 1st round pick in The Golden Calf of Bristol....not b/c of what The Golden Calf of Bristol will do in 2010 but down the road.

building through the draft means those guys will be factors in a few years. Unforunately for us, we expect them and need them now.

Doesn't "long term" and "project" kind of coincide?

Anyhow, the point is that you only have so many draft choices each year. Some are made to make immediate impacts while others are made for subsequent years. We HAD to address WR this year, it was perceived by many to be the one missing piece to our offense. We did this. We drafted Lafell, Gettis and Guy all players with College WR experience and took a flyer on Edwards as a project.

We drafted some DB's late in the draft like usual and if things don't pan out it will be addressed year to year. So look for CB's to be big on next years board if things continue as they are, along with OL depth.

Your sceaming about immediate needs but at the same time pandering for draft picks for the future. Can't have both. Marshall isn't under contract for next year, but he is for this year. He was here we can draft a replacement next year if we feel the need. You see how this works?

Do you even understand what you are typing?

You don't take a flyer on a player with a second round draft choice, especially when you are rebuilding....good lawd.

We do need immediate needs, but much more importantly we need that second round pick next year. It was a bone head move, just like the EB pick.

Do you understand what you wrote? You don't "rebuild" in one draft. It takes at MINIMUM two. They wanted Edwards for their future plans, he was in this past draft so they did what they needed to to get him by trading a pick in next years draft. So essentially he's a pick up for next year. I don't understand how this is so hard to understand.

It was a stupid pick, I said it when we got him and I'll say it again. We needed O line help and we picked a project that at this point is worthless. The sad part is we gave another pick for him. We could have gotten a RG or RT that could be contributing now and we would not be 0-4.

Oh wait here is an idea if you want a punt returner how about draft a f**king player who returns punts in college. Seriously, that's what other teams do, they draft players that play the same or similar positions in college and guess what, it usually works.

Once again Fox trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I will be glad when we clean house.

Oh and one more rant, all this wasted time, pick, frustration when the whole fuging time we had a good returner on the roster in Mike Goodson. If they didn't have poo for brains they would also line him up as a receiver more.
