My take from the last 2ish seasons the qb position has severely crippled them in the playoffs and Tomlin may have to do something drastic to change that.

Agreed. I think Tomlin has to do something drastic to show he isn't content with mediocrity. This move would do that.

Its possible, but would probably take another team being interested.  They might be able to stand pat and pick him at 21.

Feels like the saints have him targeted at 9, which makes pick 8 $

I want walker bad and I know Tomlin is lights out in the reg season but that is a haul that can really accelerate our timeline

Staying put and drafting Jaxson Dart feels like much more of a Steelers move than trading into the top 10 to draft Sanders.

Drafting Kenny Pickett #20 was a mistake but it wasn't the major setback that trading into the top 10 to draft Kenny Pickett would've been.

It's difficult for me to buy an organization as historically well ran as the Steelers doing something this colossally stupid unless somehow David Tepper has shadow purchased the organization.

Its extremely well ran and well coached.  So much to the point they are having to draft scrubs like Pickett and sign old vets like wilson to try and shore up the qb position.  At some point they have to take a huge swing because Tomlin wins too many games to get a chance at a top prospect

Take that trade down haul or let the Saints pick Shedeur.

I think Sanders can play now and dart may take a season on the bench

I think Sanders is very limited in his NFL projection. The way he played in college with his skill set does not translate. I'm not sure he's as plug and play as people think. You have rewire him in terms of how he sees the field and what he's physically capable of doing against NFL competition. Late last season gives us hope that Bryce has maybe done that but we had to endure a lot of ugly football to get that glimpse of hope. Playing Sanders early goes similarly IMO.

They'd basically be drafting a slower, weaker armed Russell Wilson. How does that work out with lesser physical talent?

Need a QB. They've been in purgatory on being real contenders for a decade. Get desperate, especially over there in the AFC. Who knows.

I dont like him at all as a prospect but basically everyone acknowledges he can probably start day one and if he gets adequate protection he can probably win games.  His ceiling however is a bit limited IMO.   He probably is already better then fields and probably can be as good or better then 2024 Wilson towards the end of the season.  Does that win a play off game, I doubt it but Tomlin cannot take that chance at this point in his career

Yeah, they thought that about Bryce too. Just because a guy is mentally ready doesn't mean he's ready if the playing style isn't plug and play also. Some of these guys have to relearn how to play the game at the NFL level in terms of what they're physically capable of. That's true to some degree with everyone but it's more true of guy's whose physical talent isn't top tier.

Well they did break their mold with that DK trade and extension.

you are not wrong just saying that Tomlin may feel like he has to do something drastic this year.

And at 21 we probably would be able to still get a good pass rusher or probably either Golden or Tet

Steelers have a strong OL and two big WRs in Pickens and DK. If a QB is plug and play that’s the offense/roster you want. Plus a great defense. Not the horror show we put on the field in 2023…

I mean if the culture of an organization/coach can help rein in all the noise surrounding Sanders. That would be the Steelers and Tomlin.

    • The hell happened to our Te's...I gigured Evans would get a biggercroke coming off the bye week? Sanders?? He might need to put that weight back on. He's been about as underwhelming as Wonnum. And Tremble looks nothing like he used to btw.  Xavier in the top 5? Nah...Moton in the top 5? Pretty sure I saw him getting beat multiple times 3rd/4th qtr.
    • I agree 100%.  Just to add, ANYONE that wants to sign BY to some 300+ million nightmare/contract, they can kick rocks first.  Like you said, brad adds nothing. This is war, just bring in a bright forward thinking OC that's going to come up with new plays and ........a fing game plan to beat a 1-8 or 3-10 team...... challenge the defense to defend every blade of grass and evolve this team.... By my eyes Dave is just another Ron Fox wilks 4.2 with his only success being if the score is low and able to run enough...(minus one game.) fug that, thats another big issue, Im just sick of the coach hires, its too many since Rhule.  Dave has earned the right to stay, but.......If Dave doesn't want his pilates lover to go be a video assistant for underdawg or whatever betting site that gives him a salary. Peace out bro....
    • If it were that simple, Reich and Canales would have already done it. The next HC would have the same happen. If Canales is gone, I wouldn't be surprised if Tepper elevates Evero to keep him around with Bryce, Tremble and Chuba as agreed upon long term offensive pieces. I believe Reich and Canales would have gone different directions at QB and DC if they were allowed. Wilks even made it known this organization doesn't make the HC the primary partner in personnel decisions. Before the HC even gets a chance it likely goes Nicole > David > Dan > Brandt > Eric > Benjamin 1 > Benjamin 2 > HC I highly doubt hanging the HC wouldn't fix all the problems over his head.
