Panthers tout alternatives to 'Double Trouble'

Honestly why does Fox got anything to say about this. His ass is out the door coming at the end of this month. So fug Fox and Hurney. Both of their sorry asses are out and a new HC is in. So Fox shouldn't have any word on who goes and stay. I highly doubt JR will allow one of his best RB go without a fight. Fox is just all mouth until the end of the month.

Not so sure. The new coaching philosophy will probably determine if we need 4 HB studs. We need to trade for value so someone has got to go. Too many needs elsewhere. I want Goodson to stay, after that it doesn't matter to me Dwill or Stewy. but like I said, it really depends on the direction of the team. The guys are young enough anything could happen. I personally hope we don't stay a conservative running team.

Well some people get the idea that Dwill will slow down by the age of 30 and that's why people want him traded. But I don't see Dwill slowing down until about the age of 33 or 34. Main reason is because Dwill has never been a full time back in this league. He has always shared the Carries wheather it was with Foster, Jstewart, Goodson,or Sutton. That's why his body will be able to go for another 4-5 years before he starts to slow down some. I truly don't see JR or the Front Office allowing Dwill to walk just like that. Dwill is a stud and JR would be crazy to trade him. Dwill has vision and quick speed. Right now JR is setting on a mountain of money right now waiting to see what happens with the lockout deal. I'm sure he will take care of Dwill and Ryan Khail after the season is over. Dwill stay I'm for sure about that.:co:

D Will will most likely be a UR free agent after this year. I can see us making him an offer and hoping for a discount but where D Will is next year is entirely up to him. If we do lose him, I see us picking up another RB in the final rounds of the draft. Remember, we have been through all five of our RB's this year... (also don't forget that abysmal playoff game against the seahawks)

Like I said before I doubt JR and the Panthers front office will just allow Dwill to walk and find another team. Dwill already before said he wants to stay anyway. So if he wants to stay. the only thing preventing him from going is if JR doesn't allow the Front Office to resign. Which to me I doubt JR would let his young Stud of a RB go that easy. Dwill has been slightly injuried in the past few seasons. But no major injury to speak of. If anyone was to be traded it would be Jstewart because he is more injury prone half the time. Goodson is better served on this team as a backup and our return guy. I love sutton and all. But if any of these guys had to go. Well sutton would be the one.:frown:

why does he write the article as if he's expecting Stewart to brag about his individual successes while we're 1-12?

That was awkward to read. I understand that he's trying to find a bright spot but the article seems out of tune with the current state of things.

It's not ironic that we are rushing well without Williams either. Anybody can run behind the line when they block well. Hoover got 18 yards against the Giants last year and I'm still in awe.

Why do you think that Fox has any say whatsoever in who goes or stays? He said that he thinks Goodson is an every down back. Why are you so upset?

If they make Williams an offer and he doesn't accept, then it seems the front office would have no choice but to let him go. If I understand the way it works, they couldn't get anything for him unless the franchise him, and I can't see them doing that. But then, I am certainly no expert on NFL contracts.

But then, a lot of this depends on what happens with the new labor contract.

    • For starters, and again I am not sure what his capacity is in the media or how connected he is to the team, but I posted above Al Wallace says he is "absolutely" getting 50+ a year and he deserves it.  I obviously strongly disagree with it but it feels like like season when the team is slow leaking info to gauge the temp.   Secondly nobody on Gods green earth is going to sign an extension making less than he is making now.  Thats just crazy talk.
    • No. Physical tools alone aren't enough. There are plenty of examples of draft busts to support that. Aost all of them had the physical tools and that wasn't enough. But Bryce is a perfect example of the opposite. Absolutely elite intangibles aren't enough either. If you simply don't have the physical abilities all the football intelligence and work ethic in the world won't be enough to overcome it. Just look to the sidelines every Sunday. We call those people "coaches".
    • As much as I despise Billy B, his philosophy on QBs is how I would approach things if I were a GM. You always keep looking for your next starter.  He has Bledsoe, who got injured and his backup ended up being the GOAT. Even while he had that going, he kept getting his next guy and developing them. When Brady got hurt, Cassel stepped in and went 11-5 and they missed the wild card by dumb luck. Who knows how far they would have gone if they had gotten in. Jimmy Gs career started in NE. There were others, but he always kept looking.  You can't be afraid to keep looking for your next starter, but it looks like we're afraid to look for more than a marginal one. If you're going to offer a $25m contract with incentives, that screams marginal QB. It also screams you're just a transition until we find our guy. After a 10 or 11 win season, he's not accepting that offer. And then you're in a Daniel Jones situation. Do you pay for a year of success and pray it wasn't a one year wonder?  To this point, Bryce has really produced nothing, yet for whatever reason, our FO has not even sniffed at the idea that we need a real QB room with real QBs. Dalton was never starter potential, Plummer was a joke. KP certainly isn't, neither is Grier.  Our approach to the QB room needs to be one of strength not fear. Bring in guys who can compete or who you think can compete. This is THE elite position, in an elite sport, paid premium salary, where production matters. Either you produce or you can lose your job. It's not mean, it's just the reality of the position.  And I'm really just tired of our candy ass approach to it.
