Is Charles Johnson a double digit sack guy?

I think he looks promising as a starting defensive end. He has had to sit and wait his turn but now he has a shot to start. I think he as a good motor and can produce double digit sacks. Agree? Disagree?

Buck and Garcia seem to think he is. At least they were talking that way on their show this afternoon.

He's a real dawg! I've watched him over the years, and I can tell you that everyone will probably be pleasantly surprised at what this kid can do. Once he gets settled and a little starting experience under his belt, I expect him to be awesome. After seeing the mechanics and drive of C.J., <10 sacks per year = disappointment in my book.

C.J. is raw talent with plenty of size and muscle. He has a powerful motor with the spirit to match. With the experience, he will become an NFL beast.

why would you double team a guy who really hasnt proven anything yet?

Gotta double someone in a 4 man pass rush and Johnson will be our biggest threat when Peppers leaves (barring a big FA/draft pick up). Not like you have to leave a blocker free to worry about a disguised blitz coming from somewhere against the Panthers.

People would like to believe that we need a 1st round DE, atleast that was the case last year but I like to point out that if it wasn't for Johnson coming out early, he could've easily been a 1st round draft pick last April. The boy has talent. Could he live up to Peppers' standards? Probably not but this may not be a bad transition.

What we need is a DT that can be plugged in next to him to help relieve that double coverage. If we can find another Jenkins (with less troubled past) then I wouldn't be far fetched to say that our defense will be a lot better next year.

Yes, you guys are forgetting Charles Johnson was a projected 1st round pick but he fell to us in the 3rd. He could play ball in College and I've always seen potential in him. He will be the starter next year, I promise you that. He is a well rounded DE that can stop the run and put preasure on the quarterback.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
