Those Who Like Palmer, He's Demanding Trade

Hmm, it might be nice to have a quarterback that throws for 4000 yards and 26 touchdowns and we consider it regressing.

Yeah, we have people acting like we are too good for that caliber of Qb but haven't had play close to that in years.....nor a Qb on the roster who looks like he could even get into that ballpark.

Let's just grab a 3rd round QB and develop him

We already have two young draft pick QBs. You want another one?

Not to get too far off topic, but how the hell does Marvin Lewis still have a job?

Because Mike Brown still has one.

He could be trying just to get a new contract.

Oh, I think it's real. Ex-Bengals are generally united in saying that the bengals under Mike Brown are the equivalent of football hell.

Wow, I wonder what happened?

He realized he played for the Bengals.

I'm amazed how people trash Palmer but think Volek, Bulger, etc. would be better pickups. Aside from being cheaper and not giving up a draft pick I dont see how they would be. Palmer is head and shoulders above them. He is totally worth a mid-late pick considering he is willing to restructure his contract.

We have a better run game, defense, and don't rely on the pass as much as the Bengals. Not to mention that organization is a complete joke and mess from top to bottom.

I would also like to put out that last time we made the playoffs in 2008 (#2 seed mind you) we had a QB with a 15/12 TD to INT ratio. This guy threw 26 TDs last year. Yes he threw 20 Ints but had just 13 the year prior to that. I think he can he would do well here and even make us competitive/in the hunt while also providing a stop gap until Clausen pulls his head of his ass.

The issue that most would have with Palmer is that we would have to give up picks to get him. If we could sign him without a trade, I would be all for it.

I think this is kinda Caron's way of turning the Bengals arm. I think he knows and the league knows that no on should give higher than a 3rd round pick for him, or they are foolish. I think Cincy is going to want more and will eventually have to settle or just cut him. Which would be good for him because he can pick where he wants to go.

I would be mad if we gave a 3rd round pick for him though. Think about it....if we give up the third and can't trade down, we pick the first pick and then were done till the 4th round. Why give up so much for a QB that we don't know if he wants to play here or even if he has any left in the tank to be a stop gap for Jimmy or a new QB.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
