General Draft Rumors/Speculation Thread

I'd say any 2025 capital gained helps.  We already have (2) 4ths and (3) 5ths.  So whether you gain a 3rd, 4th or 5th, you have more in the bank to package with 57 if we want to move up for a guy we want.

And if you gain a high 2026 in the process, it's a solid move.

Another context trade: Vikings/Lions interdivisional from 2022:

Lions sent 1-32, 2-24, & 3-66 to MIN for 1-12 & 2-46

20 spots with no future pick involved.  It was a round two swap and a 3rd added.

Still don't like it. That's dropping down way to far. If they can stay in the top 12, maybe top 15 I could get on board.

Ah - you're trying to stay high in R1? Yeah I can understand that sentiment then.

Yeah, I really want to improve our 2nd round pick this year. The drop off after around pick 45 to 50 is noticeable.

Feels like the draft doesn't start until #5 and then it's madness.

1. TEN - QB Ward
2. CLE - CB/WR Hunter
3. NYG - EDGE Carter
4. NE - OT Campbell
5. JAX - OT Membou/DT Graham/TE Warren/Trade
6. LV - RB Jeanty/DT Graham/LB Walker/Trade
7. NYJ - TE Warren/DT Graham/LB Walker/OT Membou/Trade

Good chance of Warren, Graham, and Walker all being available when the Panthers get to the podium. Not a bad problem to have... especially if any of those guys have a team that's head over heels for them and willing to overpay to move up.

Apparently, the Jags are toying with the idea of trading Etienne and taking Jeanty at #5. If they're trying to get Chicago to hop up to #5 so that they can take Warren at #10 and grab additional picks then that ain't too shabby.

Chicago will not trade up for a Jeanty.  Thinking a team will trade up to the top 5 for a RB with the idea of finding trading partner for your current RB1 is a LONG shot proposition for the Jags (I have heard the same rumblings about this scenario).  I honestly think they are putting out smoke just hoping to move back.  At #5 there should be more value and this draft is very thin with elite talent at the top.  Again, they are simply trying to fabricate a scenario to move back and get more value.

Todd Mcshay just said the Saints arent drafting Sanders at 9 or even in the 2nd round

Also reporting some Campbell uncertainty.  Lot's of smoke and distortion starting to billow.  But I do buy teams may not be interested in Shedeur.

I said it earlier,  every year the week of the draft, random medical stuff/etc cause some unexpected  drop.

They are resetting this year and taking a QB next year in the 2026 draft.  Why would you do a reset and draft rookie QB in the top 10 that you aren't completely sold on?  They are going to take a piece to build on this draft, get their cap in better shape and hope to get a MUCH better QB prospect next April.  Spencer Rattler will serve as the tank commander.

"Team sources feel this is one of the most difficult drafts to project in many years. Teams picking in the middle and late in the first round say it is very difficult to confidently project who will be on the board when they pick. The lack of top quarterback talent and a lack of elite prospects for the top 10 are why this draft is more difficult to predict for teams and the media. However, one pick that is said to be all but a done deal is the Carolina Panthers taking Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker . Walker fills a need for a pass rusher and is also a culture fit for the Panthers’ regime. Perhaps the Panthers are being very discreet about their true intentions, but team sources feel that Walker to Carolina is a borderline lock for the first round." - Charlie Campbell

Campbell almost always gets our pick correct. He also has Walker going 6 to Vegas though. But sounds like we would not pass on him

That seems to be the plan and Loomis is a pretty good GM so they may be a handful in a few years if they get the qb right.  I wish we did this back in 2019/20 instead of insisting to think that we were one move away from contending.

There's been rumblings that he may fall to the 2nd round.  I'm not sure he'll make it quite that far, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him picked 21-32.

I have a feeling the Steelers will pass on him and he'll fall to the Browns 1st pick in the 2nd round.

Banks could end up OT1 in this thing.

He’s the one that projects as a true LT. him and Conerly. Membou is more RT and the arms may scare teams with Campbelll.

So now pick 4 is a wildcard, this draft could go bonkers quickly. May have to make a new mock to just speculate on some craziness happening haha

    • Torn achilles.  The reason he was out more than half of last season.
    • When the panthers are bad, we sell a shockingly low number of jerseys, and options become limited. In the good years, we had a lot of different options. I think T-Mac is going to have to play well on the field for his jersey to get produced in the FUSE template.
    • it's not the only way to be a threat, it's certainly important for certain roles in an offense and for certain type players and offenses.  as is the ability to get open quickly and generate easy throws.   as far as Renfrow goes, I have consistently said he is sort of his own thing and not really in comp w/ others here.  It's a niche role/job.  Anyone talking about something else from him isn't me.  Just depends if we want to do what he does and if he can still do it.  as far as AT goes, yeah, he does lower our ceiling given the % of our offense that goes through him and his limitations at this stage in his career.    He should be a roleplayer, much like Renfrow should be if we want to insert what he does into the O....not an O being run through him.    Renfrow isn't going to lower the ceiling if used correctly.  Niche assignments to move chains.   It's like a short yardage RB that comes in to pick a random play.  Renfrow is best at that 3rd and 4 type scenario IMO. AT lowers the ceiling because we build the pass game off an old WR that shouldn't be the focal point of a pass attack.  Not to mention, Bryce Young is practically tailor made to get the ball in the hands of YAC players.   So you need those type on the field.
