My one and only mock draft

It is complicated, but genius.  First, you trade all your picks for 2025.  We aren't hoisting the Lombardi this year anyway. Fill the remaining needs with UDFAs.  With about 3-4 first rounders and 3-4 second rounders in 2026, you draft the top 3-4 QBs in the 2026 Draft in round 1.  Between the first round and day 2, you trade the quarterbacks to desperate teams who need a qb at above market value because you cornered the market--on day 2 you have about 8 second rounders, 5 third rounders, and a few 2027 draft picks--including a first rounder or two.  Load your roster with second and third rounders.  trade your fourth - seventh rounders for future draft picks.  In 2027, you have 2-3 first rounders.  Take the BPA.   Hoist the Lombardi.

With the new DL, we should be better at edge by simple addition.

What player would have the biggest impact on the Panthers?

I still see the plan to trade back and take Emmanwori if we can find a trade partner.  Why, you ask?  S is a huge need and they have really only looked at 1 visits/meetings.  We will try to trade up for Princely in the second.  A WR in the third  (Bech or Noel).

There are 4 listed

All I have seen is rumored interest, but we have met extensively with Jalon and Nick.

that is pretty much it...I can't remember where I heard the combine story....Remember the Panthers did not attend the UGA pro day.  I found this, and one of the authors was Ryan Fowler (Dated April 18).

Yea thats why I think its walker at 8 or trade back and get Emmanwori.

Knowing the Panthers tho, I wouldnt rule out Emmanwori at 8 and then trading back up into the 1st  or early 2nd if a run on pass rushers starts to happen. They have met with a lot of late 1st early 2nd type guys.

Morgan has been advertising a trade on Ebay and Marketplace on FB.  That tells me they are not sold on Walker.  I think you are right--Emmanwori is their target, but after Morgan's rookie year as a GM and XL blabbing what he was told (I would assume that this is one of the reasons you never tell a prospect you will draft him) I am assuming that embarrassed Morgan to some degree--and it may have hurt his credibility.  Remember, he has to negotiate with players, agents, and GMs--so I am guessing that this year, he will be keeping it close to the vest.  I do not understand the Panthers skipping a pro day and then drafting a player when it was right down I 85.  It don't smell none to good.  I think it makes more sense that they have discounted both players.

About the Walker rumor--they have looked at him twice, I believe.  Fuel for the fire. His dad coached at Catawba as an assistant, Coastal Carolina, and got the head coach job at Catawba--a local boy, and the Panthers have a history of drafting local players recently (Ickey, Horn, for example).  If one or two people get on that train, it is often repeated and whipped into a rumor.  I think they could draft a WR (Golden is my guess).  To me, the empty safety spot is glaring--we did not sign blackmon and he remains unsigned.  Curious.  Morgan's comments about the WR room being good--curious.  And then there is Moton and his knee.   I have heard that we could draft an OT (if BPA) and possibly trade Moton--that was on a Panther podcast.  Did something happen in that development that caused the Panthers to change directions, skipping the UGA pro day?  Hmmmm.

I will say this:  I think the Panthers really like Princely.  They would use the draft capital from trading back for the S to move up for the Edge in round 2. We shall see.  But Chris SImms pissed me off when he bashed Walker, but his points were valid--not his assessment.  His comment about overrated was to get clicks.

If that is the case i would think they want a trade back to get Nick.

Then Tepper will drop his patented "It's time" and they will package the two 2nds to trade back up for Princely.

That is probably the ideal scenario in their minds. It could be any random edge/DL they trade back up for tho.

I dont think we take a WR or OT until the 3rd.

I could be way off but the Panthers usually telegraph their moves more than a WWE superstar.

7-10 sacks from him would be insane. That’s nick bosa/will Anderson. If we drafted him I’d be pleasantly surprised with 4-5 and locking up the run.

I’m more in this camp. I’ve come around to him but he’s a 1B.   What he won’t be able to change is his athleticism and burst. He just doesn’t have the type that’s going to be a 1A pass rusher for a team.

He could definitely fill an important role but no one should be looking in respect to pressures or sack numbers with him.

His ceiling isn’t some sky high thing, so I don’t get some of those talking points with him.  He’s capped due to his limited athletic ability.

For the record, I'm good with trading back a couple spots and taking Emmanwori. But DE has to come next afterwards.

Same, just hoping we dont give up a lot when we move back up to get that edge or dl

    • I'm not to sure it's a solid argument to try to estimate what he will do this season, BUT he's had a solid 3 years in the league. Here's his numbers compared to Jewell's for the same time period. I can see the logic of getting a starting MLB for a (at best) WR4. AT, XL and Tmac are certainly our top 3 guys IN 2025. Certainly worth pondering.
    • Training camp just started and it's already starting... https://www.facebook.com/reel/24277303321904901/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v LOL No one believes you and you have fan pages sharing this with a "Play him or trade him" headline. Oh wee mayne. This is why no front offices wanted any part of this.
    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
