A good chance at chaos?

i mean outside of hunter, is there anyone in this draft that teams are going nuts over?

most other years would Ward have been the top pick? probably not.

i think that there will be some really good starters in the first round this year, but i don't know that anyone is looking at this class going "all pro player, right there"

that's probably the root of some of it. people looking to get into the 1st round are probably the most desperate of the desperate grasping at straw instead of studs hoping that they can get a position of need filled. i mean that's usually the case, but i think usually it would have been harder to try and trade into the top ten. just doesn't feel like this draft has much to offer at the top of it. like most of the top 10 would have been middle to late first rounders other years.

it's just not an exciting class. i'm probably looking at it wrong, but that's just what my really uninterested and uneducated eyes are seeing.

IIRC: this is the first draft in a while that we've had as many picks as we have.  WIll be fun to watch

despite what i said about the top of this draft, i think we can get a lot of good players in this draft. this will be a good draft for filling out the roster with good players, not for drafting all-pro players.

You are looking at it right.

I think it would probably be more like #12 and their 3rd for #8 and I would still be intrigued by that. My concern is more a long the lines of moving down to like #20 for just an extra (later) 3rd. Fug that. You gotta get more value out of #8 overall than that.

I think the last tweet said we didn’t want to drop too far back. Probably hard to gain the value back.

I'm fine with putting a for sale sign on the pick and making it known that we're fully willing to entertain offers. I just don't want us to operate like we're on the verge of being foreclosed on. We don't need to panic sell if the price isn't right.

It's like putting "or best offer" on your craigslist ad.  You're gonna take a haircut with that.

I don't even mind taking an offer that's somewhat less than traditional value

I just don't want us to get absolutely fleeced and take a trade offer that would more closely align with the value of a pick on the mid to late teens. If that's the best offer on the table, trust your scouting and take the BPA on your board. Coming across as desperate to move down kinda feels to me like we're a little shook by our recent drafting struggles and we aren't trusting ourselves to pick the right guy. Which is understandable but damn, if that's the case we're already cooked.

Jeanty drops to 8. Cowboys give us 12 and 44 to move up. We pick Williams at 12

I really don't see Jeanty falling to 8, but if he did, I'd be jumping all over this offer if they were to make it, move down 4 picks while adding 44, yes please!

Comment from Dane Brugler regarding his final mock draft:

"Honestly, I hope it doesn’t play out this way — I want chaos, and there’s a good chance we get it this year."

A good chance for "chaos" 🤔

Brugler doesn't really elaborate any further, and for the record his final mock is pretty standard (Panthers take Jalon Walker).

Still, the comment about there being a "good chance" at things going a little squirrely caught my attention.

That would certainly be...interesting 😎

All he means is that we will get some trades and other things that may be unexpected. Other than Penix last year, it was pretty meh.

Still think it will be Walker, Graham, Williams, Nolen in that order. Nolan is the backup option if they trade down. If they trade too far down and pick up a next years first or something like that, thats when you start looking at the safeties or Jihaad Campbell or Grant

    • I am gonna believe it wasn’t us if the 4th round pick price is accurate. We needed 225 points to get from 19 to their pick. 875 at 19 to 1100 at 14.  Our 2026 4th was valued at 56 points I think. A future 4th has less value. So that wasn’t close to enough.    It would have taken our third and our fourth. Comes within a point of even.    Now, moving to their spot in the second round we could have done but after Miami took Rodriguez why would we?
    • Yep,and Blake Miller have had more experiences than Freeling,Lions did not sigh a vet T like Walker,so they had to pick Miller.
    • I mean it's expected.  This is the NBA.  And they hate the Charlotte Hornets.  Flagg was also the guy "magically" given to the Mavs who lost Luca to the wildly popular Lakers.  Was always an uphill battle.  But the award is BS since it's not voted on before play-in starts. Kon probably lost because of the play-in as many people switched votes.  It was a regular season award, so this is some nonsense.  Kon also didn't have the luxury of taking 10 games off to rest up injuries like Flagg did.  If he did, he wouldn't have been nursing his back the last month.  I mean, screw him for being on an actual playoff team that matters.  Flagg took tons of shots a game, he was wildly inefficient.  Kon was a huge reason the Hornets made the play-in and turned the season around after Jan.   I think Flagg will probably be the better player long term, or at least the most impact.  But Kon should have won ROTY.
