I like the pick...especially if we go with a 3-4 D because supposedly Scourton dominated in that scheme. I feel like these DE picks + the free agents (Pat Jones, etc) our pass rush will at least be much better than last year.

We've been running a 3-4 under Ejiro, it's his preferred front

I did some reading about Evero's defense.  On early downs, he likes to send either safety on a run blitz and sometimes slide the edge into the flat in coverage.  So we just drafted 2 safeties that are good at that (like Chinn) and can also cover.  (not like Chinn).  They are smart processors. This opens things up when you don't blitz because the OL is shifting inside when they bluff.   In addition, Evero likes DTs who can collapse the pocket, rush the passer with swim moves, bull rushes, spins--almost like Edges.  What they just did was got better at NT--because that is where it begins.  Tuttle sucked there last year.  In all, the edge rushers should get fewer double teams etc. Evero simply did not have the personnel last year, which is why they did not fire him

One thing I heard about evero was, he was a amazing blitz play caller.....3 years later Im still waiting.

This is the last straw for me, this year show me. period.

I do feel both Ransom and Moehrig can play together or hope that's a option.

The NT is no longer a excuse with Bobby brown. Besides they signed turttle and KEPT him after so-so seasons.

No excuses, have a old type Panthers defense rank feel to this year or fire his arse mid-season.

I have yet to be impressed---they gave him all he should need to be successful.  I really did not know what to look for, but he should have no excuses now. Canales could have let Bryce go, and he held on and it paid off.  Maybe he thinks it will work again. I dunno.

He won't play like that, look more at his Purdue tape. He weighed 280-285 at TAM last year playing a containment end for them. He's at 257 now, the weight he played at Purdue.

Had he stayed at Purdue it's quite possible he would have been a hot commodity. Definitely 1st round.

20 years old, bulked up to play the "containment" role at A&M, still had 5 sacks, trimmed 20 lbs off for the combine, and his comps have been Trey Hendrickson and George Karlaftis. Not to mention the guy's character is top notch. Love it.

From what I have heard he's more of a stand up defender than knuckles in the ground. TAM had him mostly with his hand in the ground.

Let him go back to a weight he seems happier at, not to mention more productive.

Plus if they are comparing him to Trey Hendrickson and George Karlaftis I'll take that every day.

He really likes to slide the edge that draws the double teams in those situations to create more confusion for opposing OLs as well which makes life even easier for the blitzing LBs & safeties. 😮

Also, with the addition of Ransom as @Basbear pointed out, that gives the team a third safety that can potentially contribute right away on both special teams and the defense. I wouldn't be surprised to see Evero march him out there in three safety personnel groupings.

I keep reminding myself that the team is one more offseason away but it's really hard to not be excited about seeing how they develop this season. As much as I want W's, I'm more interested in seeing last year's draft class take the leap that Bryce did in their second year.

    • I feel the same way. Bryce hasn't proven himself to be so good that he would clearly lap anyone that we'd bring in the compete for the starting job. I think the team is actually afraid to do that. If Bryce goes down does anyone think Kenny Pickett is solid option to replace him?. We can control him for 2026 and 2027. The problem is 2028. Unless he takes a massive leap forward ability wise, I don't see how Carolina can justify paying B.Y. $50 million a year. So far, Bryce has not shown that he can CONSISTENTLY carry a team. He needs to be carried by a strong offensive line, running game, pass catchers and a respectable defense. If he's lacking any of those things I don't think we can make the playoffs in 2026/2027 unless the NFC South is as bad (or worse) than 2025. Unfortunately, athletes and agents have EGOs! When he has a chance for a 2nd contract his management team will probably insist on a "market deal" and feel insulted if they don't get one. That leaves a couple of options if his play hasn't significantly improved. 1) Let him walk and test the market. 2) Franchise him for the 2028 season if you're still not sure about what to do. 3) Extend him to a team friendly deal that pays him below the "current market" which would allow the team to continue to build a solid team to support him. 4) Over pay him and pretty much ruin any chance of becoming a consistent contender. The last option is the LEAST DESIRABLE ONE. The 2026 season is a pivotal season for Bryce and the Carolina Panthers. The success of the next 5-7 years could ultimately be decided on how well plays the next 2 seasons.
    • Thank god BigKat can't buy it because I'd be gone immediately
    • Drake Maye ended up putting almost 300 on them lol. Bryce was stunned from the beginning to end. I know that's an easy comp for the Bryce truthers but no one else put up those puny QB stats against them all season long.
