QB's with elite athletic traits can be great.
QB's with elite athletic traits can suck.

QB's without any athletic traits can be great.

You can find whatever data you want to make the case.  It's my opinion that most injuries to the QB are not due to a big guy hitting a little guy.  If TJ Watt spears any QB's AC joint with his element it's going to be a problem.

Also, I don't care how big or small you are the biggest potential injury for any NFL player is a concussion and bigger player don't have any added protection against that then the waterboy.

All QB's, unless it's a winning drive or a game in the playoffs need to run out of bounds or drop like you got shot the minute a defensive player gets within 10 to 15 feet.

The greatest QB to play in the NFL was one of the least athletic players in the history of the league.  How many RB, DB's or WR are the size of Bryce or smaller?

Different players have different skill sets.  Some are physical and some are mental.  There is no secret sauce.  We've seen all shapes and sizes.

I was ready to let this go but I think you're all missing the point I was making.

A lot of guys were making definitive statements like Bryce can't do something because "insert physical limitation". My point is that he can. And he can consistently do it. No, he doesn't do it like Mahomes or Josh Allen. He does it like Bryce Young. And he's able to do it consistently.

Now QB sneak is probably legit. That's probably not in his bag. But honestly, it's probably better to have another guy to take those hits for your QB. If you have a freak like Cam, Allen or Hurts, sure go ahead. They feed off of those plays too. Most other QBs wouldn't have a problem bringing in a RB/TE type for short yardage runs up the gut.

Bryce has not played anything close to consistent yet.  And his stature will always be a liability for him.  See the bouncing in the pocket to see over the line which leads to poor mechanics which lead bad erratic throws.    I'm pulling for him but he's playing behind the 8 ball.   But if there is a year to be picking top 10 it's 2026.   The draft is absolutely loaded with blue chip talent at every position

True. We see all shapes and sizes.  But the math/odds ain’t the same for all shapes and sizes.   Bryce is largely a unicorn in terms of playing QB at this level being his size.   Despite the Panther PR of it….there are clear examples where his height is playing a factor of being blind to aspects of the field that wouldn’t impact a bigger QB the same.   And I still think without a proper setup….certain throws are off the table that would open up as options for stronger armed QBs.

I could give AF about a QB sneak.  Plenty of QBs also couldn't scramble the way that Bryce can, you work with what you have.

You could give AF about a QB sneak until it’s time to get that yard or half a yard. I get you’re tryna cope, though lol. Our QB can’t do that. That’s a whole dynamic that other teams don’t have to worry about when it comes to us. The Hail Mary is another one sadly

So sneaks will let you know he's the QB of the future? Really? Should have just drafted Jalen Milroe.

It’s apart of the overall package. Even statues such as Manning and Brady could sneak it in there. Brady was damn near automatic on his sneaks

Did the numbers support that his height was an issue? He had few batted passes and PFF said his biggest improvement was throwing over the middle.  As he said he has played football at this height for most of his teenage and adult life at the highest levels. In fact I remember talking heads saying how he seemed to find windows and seams to throw the ball. So for whatever reason it seems he has figured out how to adjust his game to what he does best.

He’s just trying to cope. Look, I get it. I’m rooting for Bryce to be that guy too, but our QB not being able to sneak it for a yard or two is a disadvantage

Nah I genuinely never cared about QB sneaks. I don’t see it as a disadvantage anymore than it was for Brees or Wilson. I would much rather hand it off or  have run a QB bootleg

Brees and Wilson would sneak it tho. Brees has done it against us

I think Bryce can sneak it too, but we weren't competing for the playoffs so not sure it was ever worth the injury risk???  With playoffs or division on the line, it should be on the table.  Bryce is athletic, he's quick and agile, the QB sneak is not all about power or size.

But the larger point is that people will always be fixated on what he "can't do" vs. what he does bring to the table.  I just think the goal posts are constantly moving.  At least it was the concern about batted down passes, then the long ball, now the QB sneak.  I guess we'll get past it all eventually when we win some games.

My goal posts haven’t moved. He needs to be able to get that yard or 2 on his own. Whatever it takes to win. 4th and 1 or 2, get that yard…right now they know we’re handing it off to Chuba or Bryce will throw it.

The ravens have the most physically gifted QB going and the sub a TE in for their sneaks
