Jalen Ramsey

Would you consider trading for Jalen Ramsey? Generally speaking I’m against trading for older vets on a rebuilding team. But, considering our massive need at CB it begs the question. Chau Smith Wade was a liability at nickle last year and Mike Jackson is more suited to be a CB3/4. Past that we have basically zero depth and zero promising young prospects at CB. Jaycee paired with Jalen would easily give us a top 5 corner duo for the next 2-3 seasons. Combined with the fact Jalen is the best run defending corner in the league and can align at NB and outside; with the potential to move to safety as he ages. This is the slowest news cycle part of the year just wanted to throw out this hypothetical. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Disagree that CB is a massive need.

Please give me your perspective, from mine our corner room is a gaping hole. Jaycee is a stud, but behind him we have essentially nothing outside of a below average cb2, bad NB and no depth.

No. This team doesn't need to be trading valuable assets for 30 year old stopgaps.

I totally get this perspective, my only counter argument would be I think Jalen will play atleast another 4-5 seasons in the league. He is a true DB rather than only an outside corner, I could totally see him play the next few years at corner and transition to safety in his latter half of his career ala Charles Woodson. I think he would last longer on the team then the average 3rd round pick in the league.

What would we send? That would be the deciding factor for me. I don't mind it if we don't give up too much to get him. He has no guaranteed money beyond this year.

Rumor around the league is a third round pick, or something in that range.

Maybe. On the other side of 30 everything gets dicey. Some guys hold up a long time but most guys show up one day and they got old overnight.

How is Jaycee a stud but Mike Jackson is below replacement level?  Their overall PFF grades from last year are almost identical.  Our depth isn't great beyond that, but the position isn't a chasm of talent like pass rusher was last year.

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
