MVP for the 24/25 canes

Recommended Posts

Tulsky. Got players that had no business being top players.  Janko. Roslavic. Carrier. Robinson.  Analytics got players that fit what we do with the money we had. With 30 mill nest year, let’s see what he cooks up.

also, give Rod some credit. Yes I know said fire rod but he needs at least 1 more year. ESP with the players Tulsky is about to deliver.

I didn’t think we would make the playoffs. They did.  NOT ONE PERSON HERE WOULD HAVE SAID THIS RAG TAG BUNCH WOULD EVEN BE IN THE ECF.

next year is rods real make or brake with 30 mill in cap space.

Relax. No need to melt down anymore.

We had the 7th best odds to win the cup going into the season.

Caniac Nation has retconned this idea that we never had a chance this year. And, most of that has come from Rod himself. He has consistently shitted on his roster to anyone who would listen.

I'm guessing TD gave him an ultimatum going into this year and Rod was trying to cover his ass for when his team collapsed again.

Even if you believe it, you don't come out and say, "we got worse" in public for all your players to hear. And he kept doing it all year.

Just the other week, "we don't have those sexy players, yet."

7th best odds with Necas (and to a much lesser extent, Drury). Unfortunately that trade made us worse because Mikko is a little bitch.

He’s about to be 0-12 in the conference finals and we’ve been outscored 16-4 in this series after only losing 2 games the previous two rounds and looking really in control of the series. There’s major red flags here as to why he seems so overmatched once he gets to a certain level. There comes a point where “just getting there” isn’t good enough. We are at that point.

Maurice coached RBA for years, he knows him well.

RBA needs some different voices around him.

Yeah, I don't think there's enough attention for this. Rod learned a lot of his stuff from Maurice and they run the exact same style of hockey. The difference is they have way more talent than Carolina.

Honestly the worst possible matchup for us

Agree that the Panthers were the worst possible matchup for the Canes.

Another perspective - Canes finished 10th in points in the league during the regular season (had been as high as 5th I believe at one point). Canes finished in the top four in the playoffs. The disappoint stems from how they blew through Devils and Caps so our expectations they just might win it all.

A bummer. I just want a win against the Panthers.

major props to Tulsky. Without him, we don’t have a roster of guys to make the playoffs. Let’s see what he does with an actual 30 mil

Tulsky screwed the pooch with Rantenen by signing him without a long term contract- the fact Mikko apparently didn’t want one should have been a dead giveaway he didn’t want to be here. Just don’t make that mistake again.

You assume Tulsky is the one who wanted this trade. I believe Dundon is the one behind the trade, think about it.

MVP is Slavin for every game we should have lost because he singlehandedly stopped several good chances by himself lol.

If we don't have a different system in place next season which allows for more consistent threats of scoring, I've lost all hope. We're strong as hell defensively because of our system and the concept of wearing the opponent out until they make a mistake isn't a bad strategy to implement...it just can't be the only thing you do. The amount of cross crease passes that led to goals that Florida got on us and the fact that we seldom if ever get similar chances is telling.

Truthfully, the canes are so strong on defense is because of the system. It makes forwards play 200 feet. Offense and Defense.  While I agree I hope they open it up, I doubt that will ever happen.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
