Again, it may have nothing to do with Bryce Young. The coaches are thinking about the whole roster. Many guys have said how much different this off-season has been not having to start from square 1 with a playbook, language, etc. You’re talking about bringing in a guy to lead the 2nd team offense who they now have to spend time teaching. Every team is different. This team is young and developing across the board and trying to find some positive continuity. With how Morgan and Canales have approached everything I’m fairly certain they considered all possibilities and decided it was best for the overall team to roll with Dalton for now. They value whatever it is they feel Dalton brings over the extremely low probability of whatever washed out, journey man, reclamation project developing into a franchise QB. You and I have no idea why and aren’t there in the meetings, but it’s clear that the FO sees this young failed franchise QB project as less likely to pan out than you do.

well, I'm not in meetings.  Nor employed to make decisions.

but the narrative of trust the professionals.....has not been the best defense of actions in Carolina land for some time.

The biggest issue I think is time and Tepper.  Can a grouping stay in power long enough to actually build a cohesive vision.

Or he hires someone worth keeping. This round was leftovers and not even on the radar for other teams.

I mean, I have said it before.  I actually like Dave.  I think he brings a lot of the stuff you want in a HC.  I don't like him paired with Morgan because I think Morgan could get an axe quick.   Think Tepper likes to set things up to have folks to be fired and take blame.  Then the next GM is going to be looking out for himself more than Dave.

and I think Dave now is sort of stuck w/ Bryce after the unimaginable Bryce rally.   I think the plan was basically that we would move on from Bryce pending something insane didn't happen.  They did.  Then the insane still happened.

I believe we could in fact be the best and most fun to watch team of the entire Tepper era.   So I’ll give you that.  I just think we stay under .500.  Flirt with that line.

I do not think we have much room for injury though.  Really need a 17 game Hubbard season behind a largely healthy OL for that to happen though.  Still think the pass game is going to be on the weaker side given so much development with guys is in the works there so too much can't be placed on their shoulders.  100% has to be a complimentary O.

Agreed re: injuries. I think that there's been enough done to where the team has starting talent at almost every position group (except LB now), but some of those groups are incredibly top-heavy without much depth (ie: DB + LB imo). I think that the roster has been built out enough to where losing a guy in the trenches isn't going to be as devastating as it has been recently... but maaaan if Jaycee gets hurt right after signing his new deal that's going to suck even worse than it has before. 😕

I've heard rumours that Hubbard might have patella-related issues (didn't he have a subluxation last season towards the end?), and if that's true I don't doubt we're going to get a much healthier dose of Dowdle than we did Miles Sanders during his tenure.

As much as I want to see the pass game take off, it's got a lot of young and unproven commodities that it's depending on to work. I'm expecting growing pains, but with actual growth rather than just the pain.

I hadn't heard the Hubbard stuff.  Hope that's not the case.  I was trying to show you some optimism lol

Dave with a better GM would have had a much better chance but when paird with Morgan in our situations it's hard for me to get behind. Too much I just still think won't work. Some good more bad or meh IMO. I think Tepper actually likes Dan. I think DC needed more time, same with the guy the Jags got.

Tepper hires poorly. People he likes regardless and poor overall meshing. Rhule with Bryce who isn't his type as you have stated in the past. Keeping Morgan and just hiring his friend with zero interest elsewhere for legitimate reasons. Whatever, it's what the Panthers are now and until the wins come Im not able to force my self to play pretend anymore.
