Why? Robinson was our best DL last season and is a run stopper. Also there is a heavy rotation so Wharton may still get more snaps but 1st down or for sure run plays I want Robinson in with Turk coming in pass downs and to keep both fresh.

I mean.....$15 mil AAV for a situational/rotational guy is not good.

Not sure that is true. Our starters will compete. Depth is going to be an ongoing issue but injuries killed us last year and that is hard to predict. As long as we stay healthy I expect us to be competitive this year.

That’s my point our depth is still garbage esp in the back 7 . One injury to any starter we have and it’s trouble . I love a young team but we go out our way to not sign vets that are proven in this league . We have no clue what we are getting with some of these back ups . We still have a ways to go that’s all . We will have our ups and downs this year but that’s progress compared to the past few years

Don't think it is garbage. In general we have a younger team and there will be a learning curve for some guys. But our talent level has improved and a lot of our depth players got valuable reps starting for injured guys last year. Plus I think that this group of coaches are good at teaching fundamentals and they have embraced their role teaching the young guys how to be pros. I expect us to be much improved over last year especially on defense.

I would say nothing to see yet but Robinson over Wharton would be a really bad sign by Game 1.

SMH no no it really isn't....

Brown-Brown-Robinson will be VERY VERY HARD to run agiast if we can get even mediocre LB play....

Wharton will see plenty of snaps.... why waste it on running downs.

Almost all dline positions are rotational this is a silly comment very very few guys play 92% of snaps like Brown did two years ago, it's also not 2020 15m isn't what it used to be the CAP is 279M his cap hit is less than 6% of the cap.

He's gonna get his snaps as long as he produces i certainly don't care about "starter" titles defensive line rotation and keeping them fresh is a very GOOD thing.

That's backup money with the current cap. Dline starters make 25m+ and stars make 30m+.  Plus his 2025 cap hit is a little over 6m.

Also his deal is essentially a 2 year 30m deal with most of the compensation being his SB and second year of salary. 1.5m bonus split three ways each year for hitting the following milestones, making the pro bowl, 7 sacks, and 10 sacks respectfully.

that is disappointing--willing to bet he is not starting week 1

Please don't take this as me selling you Nick Scott stock...... Just the past 3 years he's started 30 games at safety. He's been in everos defense for 5 out of his 6 seasons and Panthers leadership choose him over one of my personal favorites sam franklin.

That said there's still plenty of time for someone else to step up and take the job, I do feel strongly ransom will be starting week one. Richardson should be the 3rd man as well, followed up by STer Nick Scott.

I was about to come in here and say ALL 4 stringers minus Thor, will be cut.

Thus making 2025 draftee Cam Jackson a cut and all he did was flatten a browns C at joint practice.....

There are some spots.........., FINALLY where other teams may in fact claim Panthers cuts. OL, WR, DL and RB will have claims I feel.

* maaaaaaayyyyBEee CB as well....given I have UDFA Thor making the team.

I wouldn't read too much into it yet. Early depth charts always favor seniority unless it's obvious like Tmac. They've got Cam Jackson as 4th DT, and by all reports he's balling out at practices. I think he ends up rotating in a lot on early downs.

Rico listed 2nd on KR but not at all on PR. Is there really that much of a difference when returning? Catch ball, find blockers, run like hell!

I always looked at the difference being that a kick returner is really all about ball security and vision, whereas a punt returner needs to have more agility and instincts to make something happen.
