IDK. That an interesting one to think about. His track record has been to be more patient with GM's than HC's. That's generally why I think DC is more likely to end up on the hot seat first.

Well, hopefully we just don't find out.

David Tepper once said something along the lines that the league was basically designed for teams largely all be 8-8.  If you are good for an extended period or bad.....it's the people running the show.

the problem in Carolina is clear

It's true. For all his faults, JR was a much better owner than Tepper in terms of cobbling together an averageish or successful team.

We all thought Tepper would perhaps break the streak of all this average play mixed with good/great seasons.

Mission Accomplished: We haven't seen either since.

Honestly, my money is on him getting canned prior to the seasons in an effort for DC to save face. Not suggesting Evero won't deserve it but technically that wasn't a DC guy, he was inherited.

Yeah, that is a growing consensus and I concur. Hasn't shown much more than thin gimmicks(i.e. run scheme), obvious blitzes, and setting up dbs for blown coverages. I feel he could get canned even if we are winning. Maybe I want that scenario. 🤣

I mean, if we get demonstrably better, I can see possibly staying the course. But even with a piss poor defensive roster, we need to dramatically improve for me to want to see more of the Evero Experience.

There is only so much blaming the roster and injuries anyone is going to tolerate if we are consistently fielding bottom 5-10 units.

Don't tell that to folks like Icege who continually go out of their way to shine his shoes.

I mean.....there is no question that is 100% on the players. That's fuging pathetic.

Exhibit A of why Woods was cut....

Trying to shoulder knockdown the best WR in the NFL ends up with air

Also not sure what the h*ll coverage Horn was playing but covering nothibg after a poo jam

2023 PFF grades for Carolina's defense

  • Defense: 73.0 (15th)
  • Run Defense: 65.1 (13th)
  • Tackling: 32.0 (32nd)
  • Pressure: 71.5 (21st)
  • Coverage: 79.8 (12th)

2024 PFF grades for Carolina's defense

  • Defense: 44.7 (32nd)
  • Run Defense: 37.5 (32nd)
  • Tackling: 43.3 (21st)
  • Pressure: 51.9 (32nd)
  • Coverage: 50.1 (29th)

The 2024 defense was historically bad due to a lack of talent as a result of little-to-no resources being committed during the offseason, poor team building by prior regimes, and injuries to two of its most important players. However, the defense was serviceable 2023 - 2024 with pressure and tackling being the biggest issues (despite not having Jaycee for most of it).

I understand that folks are low on Evero because they desperately want a sacrifice for last season's results, but a step back from the ledge shows that it wasn't all terrible in his first season as DC for the team.

It's getting weird how much you love having me in your mouth.

Honestly I think you need to assess how healthy some of this is for you given how you have weaponized the poo reaction in less than a week. You seem pretty toxic. Best of luck with that bud.

His defense in year one was a bit of a paper tiger in some respects but the talent drop off in year two was bananas. He has to recover significantly from last year to survive, IMO. And, TBH, it's not gonna be with tremendously more talent.

It's a tough spot. I do think he is as equally to blame as the FO.

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
