I think Canales needs to pull Raheem Blackshear off of returns for these last two preseason games. That's really the best way to gauge whether or not one of these borderline guys can contribute in other ways. It is not looking like Blackshear is going to make the 53, so those are wasted reps imo. Split time between Horn and Renfrow and see what we have.

Also, Canales loves David Moore, so dismissing him is a mistake on fans' part. He plays special teams well and can be depended on, if needed, to make plays on offense. That's valuable for a 4th-5th receiver. I don't think he is a 100% lock, but there is something to be said for the trust Dave has in him.

I think Renfrow is pretty much a proven commodity at PR.  He can do it.  He also has a ceiling there pretty well established.  He can make a guy miss but he isn’t housing one.  They know what he is there IMO more than anyone else on the roster.   I’d rather they just let Horn have them.   He is the unknown.

He's been reliable for us.  It's a crowded room though.  And just saw this

David Moore had the worst Average Separation Score of all WRs in 2024 and it wasn't close

I'll say it - underthrown. Easy uncontested TD in the back corner but instead Legette had to slow up and make a great play to get it.

I'll also say that it's a single throw in a random practice and I have paid absolutely zero attention to anything Panthers related in the past several months so my comment on this play is just that - a comment on this play and this play only. For all I know that might have been the worst throw of camp and whoever threw it (I assume Bryce) has looked like the second coming of whatever QB one may feel is the greatest of all time with every other throw.

Moore was 151st in yards after catch per reception.  Horrific.

and despite all the fixation on XL, Canales’ vet had the 2nd highest drop% in the team and 25th highest among WRs

Yeah, there's just no justification for keeping him on the roster. No more Karl Hanktons taking up a roster spot basically exclusively for special teams. If you're not kicking or long snapping you need to be able to plausibly contribute somewhere outside of special teams.

You didn't have to say it

    • I'm not sure that in a fair QB competition that Young would beat out Jones.
    • That's why I said stats aside. I lived in CO during Allen's college career and didn't have kids at the time so I watched most of his games. Bruh, I'm telling you. Balls just spraying all over the place. The type of throws where you're honestly trying to figure out who he was even trying to throw that one too. It was crazy. Richardson was inaccurate in college but at least you could tell who he was trying to throw it too. He threw a lot of early in the game Cam Newton type balls where it seemed like he was just a little too amped up and everything was a few feet high. Richardson's misses looked like they were maybe fixable with working on his footwork, release, etc. Josh Allen's misses looked like "ain't no way you're fixin' that poo, dude has a cannon equipped with no sights". LOL Huge props to the Bills for evaluating him as fixable and indeed fixing him.
    • A lot can change over the next week, but here is my best 53-man roster (note: I'm just basing this on guys on the 90 man roster currently). Obviously there could be trades/ waiver claims/ FA signings.   Offense (25) QB (2): Bryce Young, Andy Dalton RB (3): Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne TE (4): Tommy Tremble, JT Sanders, Mitchell Evans, James Mitchell WR (7): Tetoria McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Theilen, Jalen Coker, Hunter Renfrow, Jimmy Horn, Brycen Tremayne  OL (9): Ikem Ekwonu, Damien Lewis, Austin Corbett, Robert Hunt, Taylor Moton, Cade Mays, Chandler Zavala, Brady Christensen, Yosh Nijman    Defense (25) DL (6): Derrick Brown, Bobby Brown, Ashawn Robinson, Tershawn Wharton, Sam Roberts, Cam Jackson OLB (5): DJ Wonnum, Pat Jones, Nic Scourton, Princely Umanmielen, Thomas Incoom  ILB (5): Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom, Krys Barnes, Jon Rattigen, Claudin Cherelus S (4): Trevon Moehrig, Demani Richardson, Lathan Ransom, Nick Scott  CB (5): Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Corey Thornton, Shemar Bartholomew    ST (3): LS: JJ Jansen  P: Sam Martin  K: Matthew Wright    Would like to hear everyone's thoughts
