He isn't. He is a 40 year old guy that can on occasion catch a glimpse of past glory, literally a 3 year older version of Andy Dalton.

The die is set. People need to quit pretending like this is salvageable if Bryce doesn't pan out.

It's absolutely lightspeed delusional to even look past Bryce in 2025. If he doesn't pan out, it's 2026 that is the next step.

I have zero idea why people haven't accepted this for months now.

you are right, however my only issue in this debate and I have been crystal clear about.  After the last 3 seasons its apparent Dalton is absolutely cooked.  Who gives two rat fugs about his relationship or mentorship to Bryce at this point.  He is top overall pick and doesnt need to be coddled.  If Canalas is the qb whisperer I have been told he is then get a damn rookie or younger reclamation vet in here and let DC work his magic.  There is literally no point in paying what we are paying for dalton and he serves no fuging value on this roster.  Winston has more talent and cost a half of what dalton.  There are other examples as well.

At least with players in the draft they don't have much choice. But I think we found ourselves in a situation where were left scraping the bottom of the barrel for HC and GM talent. I don't think anyone out there really had Canales and Morgan as legit HC and GM candidates but our lists have to start where everyone else's end.

And now Tep has to prove he can be patient so one day we can get someone worth having.

We need a billboard in Charlotte right next to the Hornets Summer League Champions one.

What a basement-ass sports city we are

I hadn't flown through CLT in awhile but I landed yesterday to a message from the mayor bragging about the vibrant culture and "great sports teams" and I was like WTF??!! They really bragging about Charlotte's sports teams??? C'mon...

The hornets look way more intriguing right now then the Panthers. I didnt want to say it out loud... but the moves made in the off sesson and then winning summer league is the type of positive starts that only get you optimistic becayse they have been historically garbage in summer league. Lol

I did think the SL banner thing was a lil overdoing it.

In todays nfl, right or wrong, you cannot be a green coach like canalas and go 5-12, 5-12 (I predict 7-10) and not expect to be on the hotseat going into year 3, you can be patient but you have to show something, canalas to date hasnt

Some love can be given to Charlotte FC, but that’s it and that’s not even big four.

Yeah, we can't just keep churning and burning through coaches. If we want any hope of not becoming an absolute last resort destination we basically have to ride it out with Canales until the entire sports world is asking why this guy hasn't been fired yet.

Oh I agree. I was talking to my son about it today; the difference between the hornets and the panthers is the hornets have talent but health issues. The panthers simply lack talent.

if the Hornets stay healthy any thing can happen. Even without a legit center which still pisses me off we neglected that position.

I would disagree. He is likely one of the better backup QB's in the NFL.

NFL fans have a misconception of NFL backup QB's that they will all be the Jake Delhomme, Kurt Warner or Nick Foles. That just isn't reality.

Winston is a guy that is fun to watch for a few drives per game while being largely responsible for the crippling loss you are about to have. It's fun but the results are the same or worse than Dalton.

Dalton had a ton of VALUABLE experience, he is essentially a mentor for Bryce and an option to moderately competently run a subpar offense if/when he falters. That is it.

There is no savior. There is no silver bullet. This is what we are for 2025. The sooner we accept this, the better.

I dont agree with that at all. And I am not advocating for firing him, simply saying he has to show an iota that he is learning and is figuring out what he is doing.  With your logic you are kindof suggesting we should have simply kept rhule and let him figure it out.  Sometimes a coach simply doesnt have it.  Norv turner, and coaches of that ilk come to mind.  It doesnt matter how long they get it just doesnt click

not saying this is the case for DC just in general

bro Dalton in know way shape or form is one of the better back ups in the league.  Thats just insane talk, I mean you can legit argue he is one of the bottom 5 back ups in the league.

    • Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal.  Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
    • With apologies to Lady Cowboy fan, any day we can screw over the Cowboys is a GOOD day…
    • Been here since 2014ish. Good times. Its a shame Zod wont sell, it wouldnt take that much effort to get this place back into shape.
