Dan needs to churn

Well, it's not like a newsflash that we need depth. But after today, I think it may be worse than we imagined. Talking about churning the bottom of the roster, hell we probably need to do a little more than "the bottom." It's reminiscent of last preseason as far as I'm concerned. Dan Morgan needs to be extra active during final cuts,  and perhaps remake---at least reimagine some position groups at the backup level.

IDK why people consistently fight against the idea that this is the 2nd worst roster in franchise history.

It just is what it is. No reason to freak out.

Evaluate the players in 2025, move on.

I mean, I can't say that people are  "consistently fighting" against the idea as much as we're waiting to see how things turn out, especially in regards to rookies and second-year players. I mean, if we blow, we blow, but I ain't 100 percent accepting that we're going to suck based on a few preseason snaps. I have way too much experience watching the NFL for that. Hell, some guys ain't even playing in earnest yet.

You can't have credibility about churning the bottom of the roster and retain Dalton and Plummer.

Yeah, that's kind of the point, but we must remember that we were so gutted as far as talent that rebuilding will take extra effort and won't happen overnight.

The last time we only scored one touchdown in preseason, 2010.

Game three better be right or we are screwed again, and Bryce is gone.

unpopular take, see what the Browns want for Shedeur. Run him as third QB for the year, see what you have with him next year. If he doesn’t work out, he doesn’t work out but if he does, you basically offset some of the cost to get Bryce.

I know it’s preseason and I’m trying not to overreact but it doesn’t look good fellas.

Maybe the entire issue is……all the Fitterer era folks shouldn’t still be running the show.  Which they are.

Fit was just Tepper's yes man and fall guy

but its hard to build a good roster when you trade away all those first and second round picks/DJ Moore for Bryce and then use the remaining draft picks on TMJ, Mingo, DJ johnson, Matt Corral

It's insane to be trading for a #3 QB.

Ride this out, move on to 2026.

Well unfortunately there isn't much to actually churn because if we're being honest Dan hasn't exactly been great at drafting. I mean every year we look at our picks and put on our homer shades but he really isn't breaking the mold after the disaster that was Scott Fitterer. And as bad as Fitterer was it's not a good sign that even he made a better attempt at bringing in QB competition over the years than Dan did this year. Now that stings.

    • I mean, in theory Bryce could get over the hump. That aside, you have to know that due to the situation we are going to give him another year. From some perspectives, it just makes sense. I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with it, but it's not like the draft is chock full of franchise QBs. I'm thinking that only one, the consensus top pick, is destined to be the only one in this draft (and some people don't believe in him). All we can do is sure up the room with an FA (Pickett) and take a swing or two and hope (maybe the dawg Pavia). 2027 should bring better options if it comes to that.
    • Let's be honest here. We have one WR on this team that would be in the top 3 of ANY other team. And he was a rookie last year. I love Coker but he is an often injured UDFA. He wouldn't have even gotten a chance on other teams. The rookie injury would have bounced him around the league for the next 5 years until he stopped trying to make a roster. It's a numbers game for most teams and he would have (at best) been on some team's practice squad. But Carolina has been so devoid of talent at the position, that we didn't have much of a choice. Bryce leaves a lot of questions but to say he hasn't elevated anyone isn't true. No WR has left Carolina since he's started and did better on another team. Not one. And there are several to choose from. Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not.
