A lot of pearl clutching when the reality is our best offer is probably around a 3rd and Christensen. But sure, clamor on.

Yeah, we've certainly shown to be shrewd negotiators when Tepper falls in love with something. Oh wait...

I still don’t think this was a bad trade if you just factor the cost to get #1 overall and leave the player taken out of the equation.

The precedent was set when the 49ers dealt up to get Trey Lance.

Both were in hindsight stupid, but the cost was the cost.

oh and the 49ers are actually capable of drafting well outside of the first and have a competent front office

That the next year's first became #1 overall just absolutely tanks the value of the trade in retrospect. We basically traded a fortune just to get to #1 a year earlier.

Well yeah, that part doesn’t help my argument.

I’m surprised the Panthers have nearly the same odds as the Bengals. I don’t see any way the FO gives up a first round pick after losing the #1 overall pick just a year ago. There’s just no way. If any team gives up a first round pick, I imagine it would be one of the perennial playoff teams. Just too much value coming up in the next draft with a potentially high end QB class.

It's probably more along the lines of the word being out that we have highly impatient ownership that is eager to make short-sighted, poorly thought out deals in a desperate attempt to win now.

As soon as a deal like that gets done with Morgan at GM I'll be the first to agree with you. Until then it's just tired.
