Re-claiming this Board

Unreasonable? If they take on the role, they ASKED for this. Is that not part of the gig? If you can't or won't do it, regardless of pay, then quit. It's that simple.

As I said, it takes a community.  Both sides can do better.  Help them, help you.

They don't live here.

Keep getting upset with me about it instead of actually trying to address your issue, I guess.  I don't think we are going to get anywhere with this conversation.

I found myself inspired after posting in another thread... But what a collapse this place has seen. It's embarrassing.

I remember this board when Jake tore his elbow and then came back to throw 5 interceptions against the Cardinals, when Jimmy Clausen was supposed to be great and sucked, when Julius Peppers left for the Bears, when Andrew Luck went back to Stanford, when Ron Rivera's stoic sideline appearance during ass whoopings lost its charm, and many other shitty times. It has NEVER been this bad. Ever.

Now maybe Zod has abandoned this place. Maybe all of the veterans that kept this place humming are gone. But what is it going to take to get this place tolerable, let alone ENJOYABLE again?

Disagreements? Sure. Pissed rants? Of course. Player bashings after a bad game? Understandable.

But this is different. It's toxic. And it is not only being tolerated, it has become the norm and precedent set for this place. I don't create threads much anymore, but this is my ONE attempt to ask for this place to be returned to the fans. If my attempt goes unheard or ignored, I'll simply walk away quietly like so many others have.

But this place needs to either change or die. I hope my fellow veterans step up here. And I hope Zod steps up. This is your ship, Zod. And it is nearly sunk. Hopefully that means something.

Now I'm fully prepared to be roasted and attacked as has become the normal interaction around here. But I hope to be proven wrong.

No reason for roasting. Just like the well being of the fanbase, winning will remove the toxicity. Right now, you’ve got the realists who are looking at the 36-80 record over the past 7 years and the dreamers who keep talking about playoffs. Unfortunately, until we actually start really winning again, we’ll continue to have people want to lose for draft picks arguing with people who get upset at draft pick talk as if it’s ruining our culture. Winning improves team culture and averaging 5 wins a year for 7 years is far more powerful than talking draft picks or talking playoffs before week 1.

Now you're understanding. I'm asking for someone with actual status here to make a move.

And do what exactly?  They aren't going to sit here all day trying to appease you.

Use the tools provided to you or stop crying about it.  It isn't magically going to get better.  It takes effort.

You are asking mods to put in effort when you aren't willing to help them.

I don't think you are going to understand that, and I don't want to just keep upsetting you further.  I am sorry you don't like it here.

Look man, my gripe isn't with you and I know you mean well, but you have to stop with the customer service line reads and actually get in tune with the board. Truly. If you enjoy it here and can suggest others do as well, I'd love to hear how you sell it. But I'd rather hear the truth.

What are some measures you would suggest? Mod enforced positivity about the team isn't an option. But if the problem is people fighting, report it when you see it.

Bring back the Adopt-a-Panther banners.

The entire world fell apart when we stopped doing that.

I don't know where your perspective is coming from.  You think I hate it here and am just lying to you to get on your nerves?  I don't see the board the way you do, and there are many factors to that.

Maybe you engage with trolls (just an example).  Personalities mesh different ways.

There are a few ways to handle it when you find someone you aren't having a productive conversation with.  You don't want to do any of those things, so I don't know how you expect the equation to change without changing the variables you input.

Now, if you start reporting things and it doesn't change, then that is a different discussion.  Then, either your views don't align with the mods, or they genuinely are not doing their job.  Get to that point, and then make a thread like this.

We need an airing of grievances, like at Festivus.

And for all the “just report posts to the mods” I’ll just say my most recent argument was with a mod who was the first one to bring in personal attacks and make it not about football. And I think the last time Igor actually responded to one of these requests to take care of the forum he was pretty apathetic towards the whole idea. So I don’t think upper management cares all that much, which I think is the problem op is having/trying to point out.

I will say, I’m not a fan of over modding.

Go look at the world outside. It's not just this place that has changed.

You are nostalgic for a world that doesn't exist anymore.

Prolonged exposure to the internet has turned everyone into a cynic. Covid revealed that society is just a thin veneer of paper mache MacGyvered together with some bubblegum and Matt Ryan's braided belt. Fast forward 5 years, and the world is sitting at the precipice of WW3, complete with threats of nuclear annihilation.

Yeah, people are a little on edge.

If you want this place to be a little more enjoyable, stop Karenning the lowly mods or appealing to an absentee landlord who quite literally could not give a fug. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen or ask your church if there is a local family you could sponsor.

TLDR: make the world better and maybe the huddle will follow suit.

I can assure you that some of us are doing just that, but the onus isn't on the people helping nor the people voicing that things can be better.

The folks that need to be better are the ones that feel entitled to being a ***** just because their football team is bad. The Panthers losing on Sunday does not force me to go on the Internet and shitpost about a player so that I can lash out other fans not as unstable. That's a personal choice that a lot of people are making.

The entire "people complaining need to shut up and do something themselves about it" to be perfectly honest is narcissistic and deflective. Sounding the alarm is doing something. As we can see though, sounding the alarm doesn't mean anything if people aren't going to take any personal accountability.

Being completely serious, the best thing the board can do is look at the rules and see if any adjustments should be made (not derailing threads by being an asshole should definitely be on there if not already). Post the rules, pin them, and then act on them. I understand that many people don't report things, but I recall last season the folks that did report things having it thrown in their faces. Regardless of whether or not it's a volunteer role, that's unacceptable for a moderator. It creates the impression that it doesn't matter because people with the ability to do something want it to be this way. I know that mods don't want more work, but we can't be dogging out people for doing what they're supposed to and then say nobody is doing it.

I'm less interested in airing grievances then I am figuring out solutions (otherwise, I wouldn't be re-watching wk2 preseason all-22... I think I might have a problem :p). I get that the mods have their hands tied, but maybe it's time for everyone to try a little harder to not be shitty to other people that like the same team as them as opposed to just the folks already trying (or complaining about it).
