"Talking about his rookie drops makes his trademark smile disappear.

"'Those were the main ones, the bad ones,' Legette said in an interview with ESPN. 'It affected me in a way; how it made me feel. Just how we lost those games. It could have changed [the outcome].'

Legette admitted the drops got into his head.

"'It's always gonna be the next-play mentally,' he said. 'But it always will be in the back of my head, trying to focus on catching.'''

If I were to give X advice, it would be to continue to work on the mechanics. Make sure you look the ball into your hands and secure it. Everything else will take care of itself. I don't know that thinking about catching balls is the way to go. That could end up as pressing, kind of like the yips for a kicker. Be steadfast about the mechanics and just catch. It becomes just a natural occurrence or consequence of consistently working on the mechanics.

Hopefully, like he said, with TMac getting the bulk of the targets/attention, it opens up opportunities for him.

Dude would come down with some fantastic snags, even in crunch time so the ability is there. I hope he is plugged in with a sports psychologist. 

He could be a PROBLEM if/when he develops more confidence.

He likely has a couple of more offseasons/seasons before he gets polished enough to be an elite WR but with TMac and Coker here, hopefully we have the luxury of allowing him to do that development.

Not that I believe it's a fans responsibility to coddle a multimillionaire to do his job....

But that's one thing I've hated seeing out of this fanbase about XL. Every single social post with him on it people are hounding him about drops and catching the ball. I think even fans underestimate their ability to get in someone's head to the point that it mentally defines them. Next thing you know he's always thinking about drops instead of naturally making the catch. I'd been thinking this recently, and this article kind of solidified it for me.

Sometimes happens when you start thinking about extending the play / YAC before you have secured the ball.

based on expectations/talk going on....my huddle bucks are betting on....

the huddle being mad/disappointed Tmac doesn't come out the gates being what the board expects him to be right away

XL gets some redemption as he makes more plays than people are expecting.

All the more reason for athletes to get off social media. Anyone famous that is checking comments or reading DM's on social media is just voluntarily wading into an overflowing sewer.

I don't think the expectations on TMac are as high as you think. TBH, we saw higher expectations for XL in year 1 than TMac, based on the Huddle input, anyway. 

A lot of both of their production is going to be tied to Bryce anyway. I suspect that if Bryce doesn't take a big leap, 80% of the ire is going to be directed at him rather than any specific WR.

that wasn't directed at you.  Just the general group thought on Tmac and what is expected. 

I think if you put up a huddle poll 85+ % would say he is a 1k WR this year and likely the favorite for OROY.

      It's honestly pretty interesting just seeing this pairing play out. Canales’ offenses (Seattle, Tampa) are run-first, under-center, play-action systems built around defined reads and intermediate/deep timing throws. That structure worked when he had QBs like Baker Mayfield or Russell Wilson in a system that created clear launch points and sightlines. His success has always been tied to a credible run game + play-action gravity. You can see that with the Panthers team building philosophy as well. Coker and TMac both are bigger receivers that won't get the best YAC production but thrive as possession receivers in contested scenarios. They're not the best in space and creating additional yardage in such, and would likely fair better systematically with a stronger armed QB who can create better opportunities on those boundary 1v1 matchups with stronger throws. Bryce, on the other hand, is a spread-native QB. His strengths are rhythm, spacing, quick processing, and off-script creation. Asking him to live in condensed formations with long-developing play-action concepts just hasn't been his forte. And well, his boundary throws are limited in velocity which takes a big chunk of the playbook off. And I mean a QB like Bryce can still work, it's just Dave's offensive philosophy and foundation is very much at odds with Young's physical limits and his own experience. So it's certainly still a learning experience for Dave to figure out how he can mesh his offensive philosophy with Young's strengths. He's very inexperienced with maximizing Bryce's strengths with his system. Would love to see us bring in an OC with spread experience and adaptability to implement a cohesive system with Dave to allow Bryce to thrive, as it's obvious we're sticking with him for a bit longer.

      Only thing I really agreed with is questioning why we didn’t take any timeouts on their last drive.  I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would’ve saved clock bc they were desperate to score as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but I also think it could’ve helped the defense regroup and maybe give us a better chance to stop them.
