Chuba? Top 100 NFL player?

LOLOLOL

We are so jaded at this point that a Panthers player that DOESN'T suck must be a top 100 player, right?  Most of our starters are backup on other NFL teams.  Nobody got snubbed on that list, our team is just that bad.

Not having Derrick Brown in the top 100 players is certainly a take.

If it's a top-100 like the one NFL Network does that's based entirely on the previous season, not having Derrick Brown would make sense considering he only played in 1 game.

But if it's a general top-100 player list? Yeah, no question Brown should have made it. You can make a good argument for Jaycee Horn, Robert Hunt, Damien Lewis and Chuba Hubbard but I don't know that any of those guys are full-on locks either.

None of our folks are making a top 100 list until both they individually, and we as a team, prove that we are worthy of consideration outside of an area bounded by Gaffney and Asheboro.

You don't get accolades with losing records year after year. And not just slightly losing records but bottom quarter of the league losing records. Sometimes the worst of the league.

Ask anyone who cheers for a pro team in Ohio how it feels. They have decades of that. Well, unless you count Ohio State. They're pro, right?

It’s a list for the coming season.

says it's predicting the top 100 for the 2025 season.

Y’all need to stop with this. Every team with a worse record than us last season has at least one player on there. They are ranking players, not teams. I don’t think it is debatable that Derrick Brown is a top 100 player.

I guess you can question if he can actually perform as such given the weaknesses around him on that front 7 and w/ a year off?

If I am an opposing offense, my gameplan upfront is just Derrick Brown.  Doing all I can to get to those LBs.

Oh, I fully understand that. And you don't make the list if you didn't do anything of real note last season. There's stuff we took note of because, well, peanuts in turds, but the rest of the league's fans overlooked it, as well as the serious sportswriters.

If we want to make these lists next year, then we've got to actually do something and win some games.

I'm surprised Horn isn't on there, but in reality, it's not exactly the craziest thing for us to not have anyone on there.

That's only 3.125 players per team who would make the list if evenly distributed.  There are obviously a whole bunch of teams that have more than 3 players deserving of making the list, and that obviously will take spots away from the lesser teams to get someone on the list.

I don't think the NFL views Horn as the player that we do. Remember, availability is an ability. TBH, if we had let him hit the market, I don't think you would have seen a ton of longer term contract offers precisely for that reason.

I mean Tee Higgins is 86.  Ladd McConkey 94.  Brock Purdy 96.  Top 100 is pretty damn good players.  We don't have many of those.

Yeah, positional value is a big factor here, hence why a lot of our premier players aren't there. We have most of our strengths at non-premium positions.

also, as far as Horn goes......if you predict the Panthers are going to have a trash pass rush....it's tough to predict a corner on that same team is going to have a strong year.

Wasn't it ESPN who had executives from each team rank players at each position and Horn came in at like 7 or 8 in the league?

    • I think you know. Apparently winning is secondary to Bryce’s development. Same as it has been.     In a way it may be good because we didn’t need to make the playoffs and extend this fuging charade about Bryce being the guy. Better in the long run if he gets enough rope to hang himself with.
    • Dave Canales is not the problem. He just isn't
    • I know DC is overthinking this and he really needs to be OC or HC, but how do you call plays with a QB that in all reality, shouldn't be starting. Bryce is wildly inconsistent. He should lean on Rico and the run game, but if he does and wins, it presents a false narrative that Bryce is better than he is and he's potentially stuck with him for another season. If he doesn't, he looks incompetent as a play caller, but it exposes the ugly side of his QB situation that he really does need a QB that can execute at minimum a basic NFL offense with some decent consistency.  I feel a little sorry for the guy because he was anchored with Young this season and even more weight with Dalton getting a 2 year deal. He has very little to work with at the most important position on his team and it's not his doing. The trade deadline was approaching and it was plainly obvious we needed to do something but we didn't for whatever reason.  I don't think he's a complete bonehead and don't know what he's supposed to do. Win games and potentially keep Bryce or lose them by putting the weight on Bryce's shoulders. Either he succeeds or fails.  As a coach I know you're supposed to play to win the game, but do you win now at the ultimate long term detriment to your team and locker room?
