  1. 1. Where does Bryce rank on the all-time draft bust list?

    • The biggest draft bust in the history of the NFL, considering the assets and picks we gave up to draft him.

This was cringe as hell when I first read it and its even worse now.  Hopefully those stupid motherfugers wont fall for this poo again.

So what happened? Fitterer beamed while he told a story from dinner with Young when he fielded a question from the Panthers' contingent about his practice habits and weekly process. Fitterer said Young spoke with the kind of detail you can't make up, estimating his Sunday-to-Tuesday exposition took about 10 minutes.

Young earnestly grinned when asked about the conversation in a press conference following his selection, saying that his weekly planning process was "a little bit long-winded of an answer; I'll save everyone from having to sit through that."

But Reich, Fitterer, and Tepper didn't seem to mind it. In fact, that "long-winded" answer turned out to be a big plus.

"At one point, Scott and I and Mr. Tepper kind of made eye contact, like, 'This is crazy,'" Reich said. "He got into how he was studying the film, and some of the things he said about that. I looked at Mr. Tepper; he looked at Scott. It was like, this is next-level stuff.

"And listen, we've all been around, and we've all heard good stuff. The other guys said good stuff too. But this was just at a level that was different."

This is surreal.

Not sure how you can argue Gilbert being worse?  It was bad but this one takes the top spot.

2 firsts, 2 seconds, plus DJ Moore (top 15 WR in the NFL) for a small and slight framed QB who can't process the line, has happy feet, and at best an adequate arm...

That's way worse than the Gilbert trade and it's not even close.

It's at least the worst Panthers trade by far.

Wrong.

Gilbert was the highest contract ever for a DT and stayed in the top three. BY is still on a rookie deal (23rd this year in QB pay)and maybe he gets better, who knows... Gilbert was decent for ONE year and showed his age in the 2nd year of that contract. Third year he was awful and torn up his hip 8 games into the season. BY did cost two 2nds more (61 and 39) and DJ Moore whom the bears had to up his pay.

Money wise and performance, Im still labeling Gilbert as the worst. BY can play better and has week 2-18 it showcase. Plus BY is not among the highest paid in the league. If he continues to play like week one, that may force me to take the crown form Gilbert and place it on BY. They both have only played about 10 good games, Gilbert fell off a cliff and come on one week is not the time for firing tepper, Dan, Dave, and BY into the sun....

Oh I forgot about the trade with the dolphins that's part of the Gilbert trade. "They had to make it to make the Gilbert trade work"

1998 2nd round pick "Patrick Surtain" for 2000 first round pick.

Oh yeah...

We oh mayne

They both are the worst, just right this day and knowing the amount of cash sent to Gilbert that's lets him have the crown.

I forgot the other 1st rounder, but Lavar Arrington was one for the scariest dudes in the NFL. I think after Ray lewis, you did not want to get hit by Lavar......

Give me til week 5 and revisit....

He gotta be top 3 all-time.

Not only did we trade the farm to trade up and get him...

But our dumb-ass owner FORCED this pick on us when our Head Coach and his offensive staff wanted another QB who is already a Pro-Bowler.  Oh yeah, we fired that coach and his staff 9 games into that season because he couldn't make Bryce work.

Sheeesh laying out like that reminds me of how dumb and quickly Tepper torpedoed this franchise.

If you want to rank a bust, start with Canales. I put the blame for last weekend solely on him. His play calling was abysmal and the team lacked any intensity on the field. He was outcoached by a new HC with 0 games under his belt!

I was pissed when we traded up to  the #1 overall pick

I said on this forum right after we made that trade withe the Bears watch us turn right around & give the #1 overall pick back to the Bears next season because I already knew we would draft Bryce Young with that pick & he would be a bust & yes I was right & not just right but absolutely right

Bryce Young had all kinds of red flags coming out of colleg.simply put that was about the riskiest #1 overall pick for a Qb I have ever seen in my entire lifetime

& still right to this day years later until Bryce Young proves me wrong . ..just saying  good luck

Young is historically bad and that's before you factor in what we traded for him.

Honestly it depends on your definition of bust.

I think there is an argument to be made that he's not even Top 2 since 2021, and that's coming from one of the bigger anti Bryce people here since before we even drafted him.

I think Zack Wilson and Trey Lance both had more pre-draft hype than Bryce did, maybe by a wide margin, and both of them ended up turning out even worse than Bryce has.

Plus the 49ers gave up almost as much as we did for Bryce to take an unproven raw D2 QB who hadn't played in a year because Covid shut that level of football down.  While the Jets turned down all sorts of big offers to take Wilson as well.

We made Bryce a bust by making the trade and then taking him, despite him not being liked by many analysts for the same reasons that was clear to so many of us fans.  It was widely talked about being a bad QB draft, so much so that the Bears stuck with Justin Fields for another year and traded away the #1 pick because of it.

So as bad as Bryce has been, I honestly don't think he ranks near the top of the all time busts list, mainly because I think people forget he wasn't some can't miss prospect and we're the idiots who made a bad trade to take him to make it just look worse.

They didn't.

Young was the anointed one by the media. The hype around him was unreal.
