Oh, that's gonna change. All the Panthers are gonna do is rave about Bryce's 300+ yards and 3 TDs and his HUGE second half comeback conveniently avoiding the hard truths about his performance.

Yeah they're only gonna die on this hill at the very bitter end. Because the owners wanted Bryce badly.

My cynicism isn't quite to that level.  I think Morgan and Canales know Bryce isn't nearly good enough but they practically had no choice but to let it play out this year.

Multiple things can be true.

When Bryce panics, he’s not an NFL quarterback. When he doesn’t panic, he’s really good. He does panic far too often.

His physical stature means he is more turnover prone. Today’s two are prime examples of that. That said, his ball placement with a clean pocket is unreal. He puts balls where only our guys can catch them often.

i just think we don’t gain much by failing to play out the string with him. if he can work out the jitters, he’s really good. If he can’t, we will be drafting in a position to take his replacement. Making this entire discussion a bit mute.

I mentioned to a friend of mine, but I have noticed, our offense seems to be terrible the first 10 or 15 plays of the game, which are typically scripted. Don’t know what that says, but Bryce has absolutely shined when he has more control of the offense in those quick 2 minute situations.

my final thought on this, is we have invested in this offensive line to the point that they have to play better. I know we had some injuries but 35 yards rushing and the pass pro we saw today don’t get it done even if we had tom Brady.

He doesn't panic when he thinks there's nothing to play for. He panics when he thinks there is.

We have to move on at QB.

It doesn't matter what Morgan and Canales know if Tepper is still a true believer.

I'll accept evidence to the contrary but my personal best estimation is that Tepper has realized he doesn't know poo about football and turned over the keys.

Unfortunately for all of us, 7 years too late.

I think they had to agree to be all in for two seasons, and that is why the 2024 draft went like it did. I really think the common sense picks at our slots were off the table because they wouldn’t immediately benefit him.
The Brooks pick was strange but he is supposed to be so go at catching balls out of the backfield and I think they very much wanted that in the offense. If people recall, it was said he was expected to be ready for camp. I think.

The center we needed, well look at Bryce try to set protections. I don’t think they wanted to rely on a rookie being a key man.

Wallace was just a bad pick. Highest defensive pick in like three years then, and it was a mistake. I wasn’t against him then but his shortcomings were obvious last year when he got on the field.

So wonder why the defense is so bad…. they took all the FA money and all the picks from the D for two years and when they did throw them a draft bone they he was a liability.

Running the ball is hard when the defense doesn’t have to respect the QBs arm. The only time, or a high percentage anyway, that Young can throw an accurate deeper ball is when he has space to do his little run up, make that extra step to get his body into it. He cannot make an arm only throw of any real velocity or distance, that I can see. Rattle him just a little and he forgets all about those mechanics and you will not see a foot planted in the ground in his throwing process. So he throws ducks, balls that take more time to reach the target, that stuff. Defenses can work with that.
He has to burn somebody before they will respect it. He rarely does, the odds favor playing the defense like it is a really short field.

If we give Bryce a second contract, you got a good preview of what that will be like in the opposing QB today.

If we give him a second contract I don't think I can continue to support the team. The last 8 years have been tough enough to stomach. I can't do another 5-7 years

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
